To get several squids, pillar up with sand to the surface, then place a block beside the sand pillar, replace the top piece of sand with a sign and remove the sand. This will create a column of air. Rinse and repeat several times over the opening into the aquarium and if a squid swims at any level it will hit an air column and drop all the way down, hopefully.

Hey Mumbo, I've seen a couple of your redstone video's a couple of years ago and kinda forgot about your channel.. But out of nowhere I got Hermitcraft 5: Episode 0 suggested by KZbin (I've never watched a Minecraft series before). That was 3 days ago... and in that time I've watched all your episodes from Hermitcraft 5 (still have to watch this one though). So that means I've seen about 25 episodes a day.. yea Really Really liked it. So now I kinda feel sad that I reached the 'live' point and have to wait for every episode, so I'm going to watch all the previous seasons aswell :) One thing I have to ask... why do you NOT have a tunnel at your nether portal that goes into your base, I've noticed that many things went wrong in that section, ghasts and stuff.. But that being said, thanks for making this awesome serie, really love it alot!

Hey Mumbo, if you wanna have an easy infinite flammable resource just make a Blaze Farm (or use an existing one). It is something that you can farm faster than coal from Wither Skeletons and Blaze Rods burn for 12 items, which is better than the 8 items from Coal. So you can get Blaze Rods faster and use them for longer than you can with Coal.

Here are my thoughts on the podcast idea: - don't confuse a one hour podcast and a one hour ramble. Part of what makes a good podcast is a minimum or planning and organisation, ie having a clear structure to the podcast. Now I'm not necessarily saying script the whole thing, but only thinking that 2 bullet points is enough is... well, it isn't. - what themes/topics do you want to discuss? KZbin stuff, filming, everyday life? Essentially, different themes work with different styles of podcasts, so keep in mind that it isn't a "one style fits all" kind if thing. - being a full time content creator, you will know more than me how important quality is over quantity. From my experience of planning a handful of podcasts for school, it takes a lot of time, even with a theme to work with that is given to you. What I recommend is that to keep them interesting (and with the classic Mumbo-seal of quality), don't force yourself to churn a new one out every week. I, many others and perhaps you, would prefer maybe even one a month, but one that is clearly structured, planned, and engaging (remember, no rambling). Hopefully you can see this, and see what others think about this. This is my best objective opinion, but I'm no professional either. :)

Your persistence is awe-inspiring. Surely it would have been less tedious to create a column of downward flowing water (a mini squid farm) into the tank? That is, fill a column of ocean water with solid blocks to get rid of the sources, hollow it out, then create sources at the top. Still, astonishing. It seems to be something of a trait of your Minecraft videos that you're so willing to just... throw yourself into things that the rest of us can't be arsed to do, just so we can see how it all plays out. Kudos!

Whenever I have a large amount of smelting to do, I reach for lava. Each bucket of lava will smelt/cook 100 items! If you have an iron farm, its no big deal to craft up an inventory's worth of buckets and go fill them. The buckets can be reused afterwards.

Hi Mumbo, do you know there's a faster way to collect sand? Dig some "stairs" down until you reach stone, or really anything which isn't sand, then under that stone, put a torch. Then break the stone, and as the sand falls on the torch, it will turn into items. For your squid trap, I think that glass panes might work. A 1x1 pillar of glass pane will be surrounded by air, and squid ought to fall down if they swim through.

Maybe if you've got a really big smelting project, you could use lava buckets. Each one smelts 100 items, and the empty bucket will be removed from the furnace by the bottom hopper (or at least that works in Pocket). Going to the Nether and filling shulkers with lava buckets is probably easier than running out of coal after every smelt.

You've REALLY gotta build a tree farm (maybe a super efficient automated piston AFK farm?), because it's a renewable method of getting _charcoal_ to use as fuel for your super smelter that doesn't involve you having to go on super long mining sessions!

ok so: 68 veiws 346 likes Now time to explain this basically for a view to count as a view the video needs to be watched for around 30 secs, however in order for a like to be counted the button only needs to be clicked so therefor if people like the video before watching 30 secs of it it adds a like but doesn't add a view simple as that*. EDIT: feel free to use my explaination to explain to people why this happens and not because youtube is drunk. *the ways this could happen is someone liking the video and then going off or you joining the video before it counts as a view so then that happens.

I feel like mumbo could make a machine that either drops carts into the water to catch random squids, or in a farm where the bottom part has minecarts that pick up squids. either way ones caught get sent into a tank filled with water an no rails, real quick before they die.
