I think my favorite part of this crossover is strangely seeing all the hermits working together on a project. Just love how in everyone's videos, whenever someone leaves to interact with the empires, upon returning just a ridiculous amount of progress has been made.

agreed, I said something similar on Pixels video earlier in response to 'The hermits work faster than us' In a nutshell, 13 of them are building together unlike the 13 individual empires are. (Not to take away from how quickly and hard the hermits do actually work though!) Crazy how fast when they all work to a common goal.

If by "destroying the economy" you mean providing goods and services at an incredibly low price then sure. It isn't "good" in any real sense to prefer more inefficient production of resources. It's just means life is harder for consumers. The only people that benefit from higher prices is incumbent business/landowners. This has happened before in history many many times. Take the British Corn Laws of 1815-1846 for example. Restrictions on importing cheap grain, imposed by the landowning government class, drove prices up, which was great for the farmers and landowners, but meant the urban poor were starving. The Whigs repealed the Corn Laws to allow imports of cheap grain which was greatly beneficial for the working class as it meant food became more affordable. The point I'm trying to make I guess, is that society generally benefits from more efficient production, because lower prices and greater quantity/quality equals greater standards of living. In the context of Minecraft, being able to specialise and trade efficiently means you spend less time grinding for resources and more time having fun building and creating. And of course, I'd you like grinding, you still can, and you can even make money from it by selling your surplus resources. Instead of everyone building duplicates of the same farms, or not building farms at all, each person specialising in the intense industrial production of some resources, followed by trade between them, results in less grinding for everyone, which unless you like grinding, means you have more freedom to build and create. Free markets work even better in Minecraft than in real life because none of the Hermits are greedy in any real sense so that occasional danger doesn't exist. Now having said that, I totally understand that for lore reasons, and to maintain the atmosphere of the creative project that is the Empires SMP, they may prefer that free markets not be a thing on the server. Fair enough. But I must nonetheless point out that trade and industry are generally good things for quality of life, especially in Minecraft.

@@attalan8732 Small-scale and not highly industrialised means of production are rather inefficient but more eco-friendly. Rampant consumption creates unnecessary demand which greedy industrialists leave no chance to capitalise on making economies unsustainable and perhaps the lower classes at risk of loss due to environmental catastrophe. Minecraft farms have no regard for the health of the populations they are harvesting or elements of the ecosystem (which aren't as intricate as real ones are) dependent on them. They are a great simplified model of the activities of a civilised species raping mother nature. Of course this isn't evil because Minecraft is only a virtual world and resources have to be obtained in ample amounts in a lore-bound, cosmology-abiding way. It's just a fascinating observation that Minecraft reflects the real world in so many systemic respects.

I love how the "hermitcraft way" of doing the most efficient and outlandish farms contrasts with the Empires way of focusing on aesthetic builds that tell stories. This crossover is already my favorite thing the hermits have ever done.

13 Hermits (or I guess 14 now because BDubs has joined) working together is just the craziest most efficient thing I've seen since Scicraft, though without the insanely advanced Redstone that you need a Master's Degree in Engineering to understand.

Who would thought that a server move would spark such a amazing collaboration between the Hermits? I’ve been hope for a such an event to happen for several seasons as HC has become more and more of a bunch of single players on a server with very few collabs! I hope it will spill over even to the HermitCraft server in the future even if I do understand it can be tedious to plan such things, but just them hanging out together chewing the fat and fooling around is way better content then a Mega base! Well, that’s my thought anyway! X and the other Hermits, thanks for giving us a relief in these troubled times! We all need some time away for RL events and you guys make it a little more brighter!

Yeah this is what I figured would happen and I love it! throw a bunch of Hermits at a problem like speedrunning setting up all the farms to basically have all the resources as quick as possible and basically break the Empire economy ... I feel like this will be a plot point of how the Hermits get "banished" back to Hermitcraft :)

Every season of HC I watch, I feel like I'm saying, "this is the best season of HC"... and here lately it seems like every episode of HC I watch, I say, "this is the best episode of HC"... and it's not just a handful of Hermits I'm watching. I honestly believe I'm watching 95% of the HC SMP storyline. Just incredible work, all the way around. I started watching Empires during season 1, and this crossover has just been impossibly surreal. It's not just Hermits helping Hermits anymore... it's Hermits helping other SMP's. This has been an incredible 4 years... wished I would've started earlier.
