Re: Being the Bad Guy - the Buttercup war was a perfect example as to how as Hermits you all created content with a story line that was so funny and enjoyable to watch and while you were 'at war' with each other it's clear you are all friends and it is all done with good humour and you are all enjoying pranking and being pranked by each other. You can't please everyone Doc but it is always a pleasure to watch your videos and anyone who watches them regularly knows it's all good fun.

Buttercups were the bad guys anyway since they started it by destroying the tunnel bore. Grian came out almost unscathed as far as retribution goes and still insisted on "Poking the Goat."

I agree with the sand duping for personal use only, especially since you're planning on making the concrete powder manually. On an unrelated note, if/when you inevitably get into a prank war with Gran again, you should cover his base with buttons, inside and out. maybe have a few of them do something simple so he's tempted to try and push all of them. it'll keep him busy for a while at least ;)

Recently I had a random dream where I was on Hermitcraft myself, and asked Doc for some obsidian. In the chests, I found no obsidian, but 7 nether portals were stacked into one slot as an item, and somehow my subconscious didn't question it one bit. Honestly your commitment to reading comments and engaging with people is on a whole other level from every single other youtuber I've ever ran into, including other hermits. I remember a couple of comments of mine that as long as it was the first day a video came out you had liked or been a part of the thread the comment was in. You 100% feel like a central part of your community rather than like most others where there's a fan club for someone completely separate from them.

When I look at hermitcraft’s diamond economy I see it as a way to pay for the effort the other player put into gathering the item rather than the item itself, shulker boxes for example were worth way more before they became farmable, and for personal use anything goes to me at least

I've done once a presentation about sleep in High School so I will quote stuff from it to help you Doc. Try to still follow somewhat consistent schedule, of course it's hard to do after a break, but if you are not traveling in a very long distance where your timezone changes drastically, **try to still fall asleep and wake up in a consistent time.** Recommended time to fall asleep is 22:00 - 24:00, they tell our organism gets the best sleep out of it. It's also recommended to get into the bed 30 minutes earlier. Don't do any hardwork or eat 2-3 hours before the bed. That is where comes phrase like "don't eat after 7". Instead do something relaxing. Keep your bed clean, keep yourself clean, and it's nice thing to have proper sleeping clothes too. Give some fresh air into your room before you fall asleep, room temperature should be around 16-18°C (I am sorry I don't know how much it is in Fahrenheits). And that is it. I hope some of these will help you if they will. My personal favourite is having somewhat consistent schedule. I even have an alarm even though I don't really need it currently. Good luck again

Doc, The U.S. branches of the military use a technique to fall asleep within 2 minutes. I have tried it and it worked about 3-5 (but it is said to improve over time). Here are the steps - * Close your eyes * Breath calmly and large slow breaths during all of this • First you meditate focusing on each part of your body separately. - Start with your head getting into a good position that feels calm going down too your feet - You shouldn't feel anything, except your calm breath. • Now you clear your mind from your thoughts. - All you do is close your eyes and think the words "don't think, don't think, don't think" - This takes your mind though to "don't think" rather than anything else. * It may take a few trys but it works and it is easier than it sounds * Also practice meditation ( Knowing how to meditate it key) meditation is extremely simple try it out

You could bury at least Grian's base in sand since they like terraforming so much. The sand duper is the perfect way to start that.

I’m a somewhat new viewer and your videos never cease to surprise me. The fact that you can understand Redstone as well as you can just blows my mind. Whenever I look at Redstone it confuses me, and you’re just over there building these amazing machines I mean wow just wow. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day, and I hope you can get some sleep

To be fair. Doc does redstone for about 8/9 years or so? Its like a software engineer who after 20 years look at basic coding. 😅

I have some sleep aid tips, I've struggled with insomnia since I was a child, even today it doesn't always come easy I'm sure you've probably heard most of these before, But here's some little tips I've picked up, turning all screens to night mode at least 2 hours before bed, not wearing headphones or earbuds before bed along with having volumes of music/tv very low Avoid eating spicy dense or sugar rich food at night to avoid heartburn, however eating a high protein meal 2-4 hours before bed (protein takes a while to break down, but if it's past your stomach then you won't get hungry throughout the night) Avoid alcohol before bed Having a bit of salt before bed (you'll have some fluid retention so you won't wake up to use the toilet in the night) a weighted blanket, a cold bedroom, white noise machine, stretching an hour before bed, lavender in your room (either fresh or a spray for your pillow) Also if you're a side sleeper try to sleep more on your left side in opposed to right side ( this way your stomach is positioned lower then your esophageal opening, decreases risk of heartburn) and maybe journaling or list making if there's any anxieties or having a busy mind before bed As for supplements, chamomile or lavender tea help (non caffeinated), you could also try valerian root, and personally I'm a big fan of CBD oil capsules (there's no thc so you don't get high, it's specifically a muscle/mental relaxant) People tend to hype up melatonin pills, but those really only work if you take it the same time everyday, because you're training your brain to naturally release melatonin at that time and you shouldn't be taking those longer then 2 weeks. If you need something stronger I've used 10mg Quetiapine (prescription only) It's an antipsychotic but a sedative in low doses Hope this helps, even if it's a little 💕 💤

When you first started growing a lot of tomatoes in your garden and wouldn't stop going on about how you love tomatoes I thought it was a bit over the top, but now I can't stop thinking about how great tomatoes are. My son loves tomatoes and I'm sure little doccy shares that sentiment. Next year the garden is going to be dedicated to tomatoes. It will be mostly tomatoes and then some vegetables to make things with the tomatoes like salsa and salads.

Basil is a great accompaniment for tomatoes, and it grows big and fast! Nothing like making a sandwich with fresh picked tomato and herbs. 😊

Before all that, you need to remove all the landscaping below grians base down to bedrock. Make it look like a chunk error and teach him a lesson! Otherwise, yeah, dupe the sand and just don't sell it. I don't see how anyone can complain if you do that. Also, a reminder that the great Etho once said that only chumps don't use TNT to mine sand. It is actually faster!

As a guy in his 40s my tip for sleep is kinda simple. Have a bath, soak yourself. Make sure your bed is clean too. You need to feel safe and clean to sleep. Hope you see this as it's a bit late. Great video Doc, long time fan.

Sleep suggestion: hot shower before bed, then a cool bedroom. Hot shower constricts the surface blood vessels as you cool down it they relax and it makes you feel naturally sleepy plus the heat relaxes the muscles

Hey doc. For a good nights sleep you can try those breathing exercises. So basically you must lie on the bed and breathe through your nose for 4 seconds then hold for 7 seconds and then exhale for 8 seconds. Repeat it for sometime. Body will relax eventually and if you do it perfectly it just takes 5-10 minutes. My therapist shared me this method. (I have severe insomnia and I sometimes have to rely on pills however it is always worth a shot.) ❤

I have an IDEA :) Not all of our lives should be taken by machines :) Grind - someone else will gather stuff, Optimize - more hands to work, Automate - You can be a Bauleiter, Thrive - peace on the server to work and build. If you allow other Hermits to do your Wall Work everyone can come up with different designs. You can choose color/material to work with and Hermits can come up with their concepts. Just separate and frame parts of the Wall.

As a raging Insomniac since birth and a couple of tricks I learned from my therapist: - Keep the room cool - Counting breaths, keep them regulated and just focus on breathing and nothing else (Always try to exhale longer than breathe in, as well) - Tensing muscles until they staert trembling and then relaxing them again with each exhale: start with legs, then arms, then back, and then entire body and then "mmelting" further with each exhale - Listening to white noise. Rain is really good (no thunderstorms), or singing bowls, or delta-wave music for relaxing and falling asleep - And occasionally doing repetitive, little work can also be really sleep inducing. I fell asleep oder embroidery, knitting and crotcheting projects quite often. It's just gotta be something small that doesn't take up much thinking

The engagement with the community keeps me here, for sure Doc. I can't offer too much in the way of advice for sleeping aid, for me melatonin does the trick, but only on nights where I need to be up the next morning. It isn't for everyone. I can't wait to see the wall designs though! I've bee excited about the walls for quite a long time, as cool as the walls are now!

I think zerg rushing the middle would have been ideal. If you can steal their diamonds before they get to them, that's ideal. Set up a forward staging area, etc. You can _always_ just close the tunnel back in behind yourself.

Great episode Doc! Regarding sleep issues, I suffered from chronic insomnia for ~15 years, I had tried everything, visualisation techniques, oils, sleep hygiene practices, etc. and nothing would work. For a long time I took medications like Diazepam and Zolpidem, and while I would sleep, my sleep quality was not good, and I was always foggy the following day, even at low doses. The ONLY things that actually helped me in a meaningful way that didn't negatively impact the rest of my life was a combination of three things. 1. Regular weight training exercise 2. (optional) Low dose of Melatonin a few hours before bed (natural hormone that promotes sleep) 3. Going to bed at the same time every night Obviously it's not always possible to do 1 and 3 consistently, but 2 helps to support those times and keep you getting high quality sleep. Finding this combo has literally changed my life, and I hope my n=1 anecdotal experience is useful in some way haha. All the best, wishing you good sleep!

An easy way to fall asleep almost instantly is to do excessive mental work beforehand, so that you get tired mentally (not physically). You'll fall asleep in like 40 seconds. Trust me I know. Also: make sure it's pitch black in the room, that helps a lot.
