Some armour stands with Steve heads and black leather armour (suits) put around the truck, surveillance tower, in random bushes... would make for really a cool "security force". The armour stand book (available in Joe Hill's former Halloween shop) gives you tons of options!

I really do enjoy the stuff like area 77 because I can easily get bored of a simple survival series but adding storylines in the serie really get my attention back because I always enjoy a good story... (same reason I enjoy the civil war and the jaggler thing so much)

On the airfeild that scar is making you should make a huge working flying machine or maybe the griefing machine that can be launched at your disposal in a hanger

The beam is double pulsing because you're using a a clock to activate a piston so you turn the piston on, updating the leaves and activating the 'beam' but jsut as quickly the redstone power vanishes, retracting the pistons, and causing a second 'beam' pulse you need a T-flip-flop to either extend/retract the pistons every clock loop, therefore only pulsing the beam once each clock loop

Put a brewing stand in the back of the pickup truck, it'll look like some cool equipment. Also a flower pot, a lever, a button, a barrel. And a flashing red light(two observers and a block of red glass(or a redstone lamp)). And maybe set up a telescope type of thing beside the truck looking at the camper vans. And maybe a security tower with a camera on top could be nearby. (just four iron bars in a square and stacked up until the tower is above the trees)

You need to run your signal from the lever through a pulse extender and then into the clock this should keep the piston extended a bit longer and give the effect you're looking for. Alternatively, you could just wait a bit longer before turning off the lever, but you would have to remember to do that every time you turn it on. Just a suggestion...
