It was coming along for a while. With a lot of hermits finishing up things "for the world download" you know they're not going to be planning huge things anymore.

I thought it had about run its course for this season -- usually when hermits get ready for the world download, that's a sign they're about to finish. And then the start of several new series on the side -- 3rd life, various people playing with the Create mod; Iskall had already wandered off to his own Vault mod... It all indicates a degree of hermits being tired of HermitCraft for now. But even without that -- people's large bases have been finished for some time, the big projects are done (hey, Tango finally finished Among Us); and it would take something major to inject some freshness. Best to wrap it up, get some rest to let the creative juices recover, and then get that freshness from a new season start. The only thing I really wonder about is whether it'll be a 1.17 new season. It's not as simple a process this time as just redoing the Nether, because the world height changes, and all the underground generation plus some of the aboveground as well. The snapshots are quite stable, and the official datapack handles the new world generation well, only within the current height parameters -- but it's still a risk to play a major production server on snapshots. However, waiting for the full releases would be too long a break. Maybe they could start with a small world around spawn and roll back the world border once the releases hit.

@@piranha5211 They might just do a break until 1.17 releases, the aim for 1.17 to release is supposed to be likely within the next 3 months, and with Hermitcraft season 7 likely going to be completely done within a month, we'll have to see. 3rd life is a short series at least. The people interested in the create mod haven't started anything yet and are still playing around with the idea of a survival series, but its hard to say what will come of that. We'll just have to wait and see.

I started watching hermitcraft in lockdown since i was bored. I came to know about it because or grian, it was good watching him but i occassionally see xsuima in his vid and be like, is this that same guy who taught me how to make afk fishing farm 4 years ago? Then i went on and clicked his videos expecting not much (cause i thought he would be all serious >.>) But he is actualy quite funny and forgetful lmao. Later i enjoyed his uploads and i never watch a stream especially that on twicth but I made an account to see his stream. It was a blast of him talking about his love for music and how he would have been a musican if it werent for MC. Just totally loved the guy. He reminds me of my close friend and that's a nostalgic point. I havent been long but been long enough to laugh with him. Congrats xsuima, may your passions and dreams come true. I didn't discover HC until midway through season 5, but watching all the hermits create and have fun has been one of the best experiences for me. I hope Hermit Craft continues for generations to come.

The most amazing part for me to "see" was the voice change. I plan to start a series myself, but everytime I hit that record button I struggle so much with starting to talk, because I am watching real professionals doing it all the time. So I set my bar way too high for a beginner. Seeing Xisuma taking years and years to evolve and become comfortable really calms my mind and remembers me that every one of these big guys had started somewhere and with mostly not more experience or comfort than me. So Xisuma, I know this comment will come too late for you to really ever see in the flood of others before me, however I just want to say "Thank you!" I started watching Hermitcraft during Season 6 and though I had actively played since 1.8, I personally never could find my build voice as a player. That was until I stumbled upon you. Your demeanor, your experimentation, and your positive continuation in the face of plans not going the way you originally intended but making the most of them resonated with me. You clearly explained what you were doing unless it was something that was easy to put together or was common knowledge, and that gentle thoroughness led me to new ways to do building and got me thinking outside my boxes I had mentally encased myself in so that I had new levels of inspiration I had never had before. All of that carried through to when the world fell apart from the virus robbing us in-person comforts of others around us, slowly pushing into islands of isolation, and many of us (myself included) facing their mental fortifications starting to crack and crumble. Xisuma's words though of teaching and reinforcing life lessons through the simple placement of few blocks were some of the biggest things that allowed me to keep things together mentally, to keep an outlet open in Minecraft as depression made me let go of so much else that brought me happiness, and gave me wise to share with others struggling to keep afloat as I desperately reached out for new online Communities of similar souls needing salvation from the darkness we were internally battling. Out of all the Minecraft content creators I give my time to watch and explore, you Xisuma have been the one that has had the most impact on me and has meant the most for me to watch and learn from. Thank you seriously does not seem like enough of a phrase to use for what you have helped do in me, but it is all I have so it is all I can offer...Thank you, Xisuma. Here is to the future we all share together and hopefully from its current ashes we can build a better one. Build on, Xisuma.

Seeing hermits wrap up series 7 feels so strange, but I guess it's been over a year, time just feels so different. I loved being able to watch this series from the start, and seeing the development of the world has been something stable in a very unstable time both for the world and myself personally. But nevertheless, I'm really happy to be a spectator of this wonderful experience that is Hermitcraft and its hermits. Grian joining was a surprise since I had only discovered him a few months prior, but oh boy was it great. I'm really happy to see how Hermitcraft has grown not only as a community but also as (what seems to me) a group of friends. I must have been something like 16 when I started watching Etho, still learning English. And now I'm 27... It's honestly comforting to have something like the hermits: you guys have been like anchors that I can move around and feel safe with. Thank you.

I've even started making my own videos and hearing what you said in episode 999 about not striving for perfection helps because I do struggle with that, especially the way I talk where I have long pauses for my brain to catch up to my mouth or trying to perfectly edit out all breathing sounds or mouth noises. It is hard for me to let go of those things. Also, thank you for showing how your voice improved over the years of doing this. I guess no one is good at this the first time and as I keep practicing I'll get better and better and become happier with my own videos.

Hey X. You asked for a comment, so here goes: when I first met you, you were a cardboard head at the HC panel for Minecon 2016. Following Mumbo for redstone vids led me to the panel which led me to the end of Season IV and start of V. I had been playing MC for 3-4 years at that point, but following HC changed the game for me: I now saw it as a creative medium, as vital and valid as if I had picked up paints and a canvas. Thank you to you and the others for unlocking this in me. As for you specifically, I have watched as you have openly been yourself, self-described warts and all, and have appreciated your mind and candor, and watching your process even as you learn it yourself. This retrosepective was great for all the reasons I enjoy your content: you as a MC historian, as someone who has grown with and through the game-on camera for all to see, and your awareness and perspective on everything that is happening around you. I sadly hadn't joined the following of Hermitcraft till season 6, though my friend talked about it a lot. I fell out of love with Minecraft after High School due to some fairly turbulent social, and personal, issues, but bounced back around 2019 when I reconnected with my friend who gifted me the game. I started watching on Grian's channel and started spreading out to other hermits from there. I feel this episode managed to fill in the gaps I was missing about a lot of the series...and even more...showed me how much of an effect a simple game of blocks can turn a player into a wonderful, inspirational person. Thank you Xisuma for giving me the experience only you can give. Each hermit is unique and has their own story, and yours is still being told. Hope to see you next season~
