I think the secret to the bees is in the particles. Bee pollinates a flower, then gets stuck up in the vine. They're dropping pollen the whole time. When you tried to replicate it, they hadn't pollinated yet before being stuck.

@@timwoods2852 Yeah, bees apply a bonemeal effect to growable blocks below them while traveling *after* having fed on a flower (works for any block that can be bonemeal'd). Another cool episode X. Do the puffer sensor at the bottom, but up the top put a couple of obvious pressure plate TNT traps. This will make her extra cautious, so she will descend slowly. Which means you can predict exactly where she will be at puff up time. Use it to trigger a TNT minecart trap. Guaranteed obliteration. Make sure the blast radius of the traps avoid storage. Good luck Keep up the great content

That bee thing seems to be the interaction of several intended mechanics interacting in an unexpected way. First the reason why the bees got stuck on the vines is due to mobs automatically climbing when they make contact with something they can climb. Meanwhile the super pollination is caused by the sheer number of bees that got stuck. Bees have that passive pollination ability after gathering pollen which can increase crop growth, its just usually significantly weaker. It might be possible to make a super farm for other crops using those exact same mechanics.

@jonahcraven8669
@jonahcraven8669 4 ай бұрын
I don't think that's actually necessary. As I understand it, the way it works is that once a bee is carrying pollen, it effectively just continuously rains bonemeal down onto any plants underneath it. It doesn't lose the pollen when it does that, though, that only happens once they enter a hive. The key is that before they get stuck up the vine, they already need to have pollen.

The bee pollen trick also works with crops! You can make bonemeal free crop farm using bees. Combined with a minecart to rock back and forth you can AFK farm quite a lot of crops quite quickly. IIRC you need 8+ bees per tile for "instant" growth staging, and they have to be dripping with pollen and they must be able to pathfind to "return" to a beehive/nest, even if they can't actually make it.

It might be a game data thing. Because Glow Berries grow in odd, sporadic ways, there might be a check in the code for whether or not the vine actually has berries. If there are no berries then the game might count that as unable to be grown at all. Try bone mealing the topmost vine to get the berries started and see if they spread down from there.

And she's been marking them out with path blocks, so what if you buried an observer under a block within the marked path that triggers a bunch of TNT mine carts? If she mines that block or turns it into a path block in the course of her road-making duties it should update the observer and BOOM!!! Land mine! Hedge your bets and place, ohhh.... a dozen or so around the area. That should work.

X, that bee pollination stacking discovery opens doors for extremely cheap starter farms. You can leash the flower-fed bees into a block space above wheat/carrot/potato, sweet berry/glow berry and basically have infinite bonemeal without a source for it. Maybe not the fastest, but really efficient.

For the glowberry bee things - the bees definitely do all need to be stuffed full of pollen first, so giving them flowering bushes was needed to start with. Once they're all dripping with particle again, it should result in the same insta-glowberry setup. You might need to double check just how many bees were actually clustered in that one spot you farmed, though - there were A LOT of particles dripping in that space, eight might even be too few for the full effect. But now I'm super curious if you could abuse this feature for bonemeal-less mini crop farms of all types. Imagine being able to just rapid plant carrots and seeds for wheat and get them instantly ready to pick up without needing that clunky triple dispenser and piston setup.

Like those single block sugar farms, except you have to plant it yourself then harvest it, but interesting. Could even see if you can double duty the glow berry idea, trap 3 or 4 above the glow berry, then sear the vine two blocks above the farm tile. Then you could see if you get the pollination ticks on both farm tile and the glow berry.

X, btw, you don't have to use string to keep glowberry vines from growing too long; you can trim them by right clicking with shears!

That bee trick would work great for any crop farm. :)

You can actually use the bees pollinating mechanic for all crops. Just trap some bees one block above the crop with a trapdoor in between so they can't escape. The bees need to have the {HasNectar:1} tag and a free hive nearby for them to pollinate the crops. If you have the maximum of 24 bees in one block this makes for quite a fast bonemealless cropfarm. It was however a bit unreliable with them for some reason not always pollinating the crops properly. If someone wants to try to improve, feel free.

Put a bunch of puffer fish in a single water block and push a top slab into the same space with a piston. Do it somewhere one of your targets would pass.

If you bone meal that glowberry vine just once, it will fruit. Then harvest, and that vine block will then continue to fruit.
