The reason the villagers got infected is because zombies can attack diagonally as long as they have line of sight it probably hooped onto the panes and did the stabby stabby

I imagine the glass panes were meant to prevent that, but not only can the baby zombies jump on top of them, they can get into that small gap formed by the glass panes and the composter. Fortunately, all it takes to fix that is to replace the panes with walls or fences

15:40 The weird ordering seems to be that minecraft processes each hopper in order of first-to-last created. Using the new "/tick freeze" and "/tick step" commands, you can see how the scrambling occurs: as it processes each hopper individually, it looks to see where it can put the item in the hopper's target. If it's the crafter, it puts it in following the crafter's rules. If it's another hopper, it puts it in the first *available* slot. In the "normal" way, it's putting the item directly into a hopper that has already been processed that tick, (so the target hopper has moved its item forwards and is now empty) it puts the item in the first slot. In the re-ordered way, everything works fine until you get to the re-ordered hopper. It's not processed until after all the others, so the hopper that targets the re-ordered hopper will see it still has an item in it. If the two items are the same nothing goes wrong (yet), it just stacks them both into the first slot and sorta works as normal. When the reordered hopper contains a different item type though, the "current" hopper is forced to put an item in slot *two* instead. At the end of tick processing, the re-ordered hopper now has an empty slot 1 position and an item in slot 2. That slot 2 item is now going to be pushed through last, as everything else will just get put in slot 1 and moved on until there's no more items coming into the hopper. TL;DR even though all hoppers are processed during the same game tick, they are processed sequentially in the order they were created - so you can end up with hoppers having an item in slot 2 and nothing in slot 1, even though there is never a point where you can see two items in a hopper. It all goes wrong from there on subsequent game ticks, since it resets back to using slot 1 on the next hopper-processing tick (ignoring the slot 2 item), until there's nothing left.
@PhilbertDeZwart10 ай бұрын
Maybe Mojang can create code to detect chained hoppers and change the order accordingly. I can't think of a use case where a player would deliberately put hoppers in a chain out of order
@darcylahey317810 ай бұрын
@PhilbertDeZwart That would probably solve the current problem but it would probably impact game performance too much because in addition to doing all the current checks and actions each tick for each hopper in the world, it would now also need to do an additional check for each hopper. That slight performance impact would compound for each hopper in the world and the lowered game performance probably wouldn't end up being worth removing a small quirk that is rarely a problem.
@SalamanderBSC9 ай бұрын
@@PhilbertDeZwart It allows you to effectively make a mixed-item hopper chain with a "low priority" input near the start rather than having to constantly keep moving the "end" if you want to extend the hopper chain. Is anyone actually using that? Probably not. Are more people affected by it handling this way? Well there's at least one (xisuma), but there is a (kinda) simple workaround of just break and replace all the hoppers if you break one in the line *and* were relying on hopper order. Minecraft's redstone is *filled* with jank that later became "features"; I feel like this might be considered one of them, just in a very "underused" form - it may take a while for useful designs to come up (if any do exist), because it's such an unusual behaviour that just a few versions ago would have been very hard to detect that it even happened.

You could put the materials of the recipe into the Autocrafter so you don't have to worry about what order they go in. Then just have a component that detects when the hopper runs out of items and have it turn off the Autocrafter before it makes that last item. For the Bamboo farm, instead of constantly having the flying machine going back and forth, you could either set it on a timer, or have an observer set 10 blocks high by one of the bamboo stalks (10 is the minimum height the bamboo can grow) and gave it activate the flying machine whenever that bamboo grows in front of it. Either of those should give you a lot more bamboo.
