I remember attending a folk night at a hotel in Barnhill around 1971. It might have been the Woodlands Hotel. A slim, quite long haired young man turned up. He explained that he'd broken a guitar string and couldn't afford to replace it until the next "brew" payment. He then went on to entertain us with his original songs. This was a young Mick Marra at the start of his career. And what a great, inventive, original artist he turned out to be...

This HAS to be sung in a sad and slightly tuneless way. Listen to the lyrics. My late wife found this a very sad song. as do I. But it is a CLASSIC in it's very unusual subject matter.
