Sorry. Didn't mean to imply this person had a death wish. I was speaking specifically about people who are traumatized in wars. Well, Mr. Shaw, you're at the least a very courageous man. Of course it was an act of self-defense, a natural reaction for self-preservation. It's called instinct. But most people would just cower and cry, and this is what makes you a hero because a hero is not more than someone who reacts at the right moment with courage, and this is what you did. I am just so glad you came out alive. All the best to you.

@joanr69156 жыл бұрын
I think you are describing yourself. This young man is a credit to any nation and I guess the vast majority of Americans are disgusted that the President has not acknowledged his bravery by now. If he'd been white, and the victims had been white, it would have been a different story. Also, I don't think this hero considers himself to be a 'poor black' person. He's college educated, he's got a good job, lives in a nice home, got a lovely daughter he's proud of, in other words a hard working member of society. Such a shame he doesn't conform to your stereotype. Have a nice day.
@joanr69156 жыл бұрын
Jeepers, you need to calm down. Also, I managed to reply to you without making it personal. I don't lower myself to insult people if they have different views to me based on their own life experiences. When or if Trump independently and without prompting congratulates this hero, you will receive my humblest apologies for suggesting he ignores people like him. Until then, I will declare that because of his past actions, especially in business, IN MY OPINION, the President is a racist and I'm quite sure he loathes having to pin medals on folks who are not white. Apart from sychophantic Ben Carson, there isn't one person of color in his government - is there? He didn't rent his properties to POC, did he? You are welcome to have your own opinion on him but I base my opinion on what is on historical public record, i.e. not Fake News. Have a good day.

How ironic? A case where Black Help is accepted by everyone. So if Black Help Matters, should Black Lives Matter then? A true but modest hero. A good young man. This is why you should ONLY judge a person by their character. NEVER by class or by color.

H Keshi Anyone that brings race into this is stupid as fuck and is the REAL problem in our society.
@wesleysmith72856 жыл бұрын
If the colors had been reversed, people would have brought race into, so yes we are going to take the opportunity to point out a black person proving that we are often misjudged.
@hklionheart82656 жыл бұрын
@ reversecourse - Such a petulant response as yours shows exactly the reason why our society is polarized the way that it is today. Funny, the only single thing that you could draw from my comment was "race" even though I did not use the word "race" anywhere in my original comment. The real problem with people that think like you do, is that you don't want to discuss the truth. You'd rather sweep the truth under the rug and say, let's all move on and just forget about it. The only way we can settle race relations in this country is to honestly face it head on - like seriously talk about it, not hide from the truth. This country was created and built on race. You can't hide from your own shadow. Or can you? The real problem is NOT discussing race. The real problem is hiding it!
@reversecourse6 жыл бұрын
H Keshi Why did you even mention color in the first place?
@hklionheart82656 жыл бұрын
@ reversecourse - I am glad you asked a question this time, and you didn't just simply react or lash out at me. A proper question always deserves a proper answer. Remember the incident at Starbucks? It was only a few days ago. And what do you think that was all about? It will be dishonest and disingenuous to say that it was not about color or race. Even many non-black witnesses present there attested to that fact. You see, it is impossible for many people in this great country of ours to ever know what it is like to be a victim of 'color' and "racial-profiling" because they are not persons of color. To feel what it's like to get "profiled" every single time you step out of your house and get in your car to drive or get on a bus or a train or to even walk into a restaurant or a dept store such as Walmart. Even when you walking down the sidewalk (Remember Trayvon Martin?) His only "crime" was that he was a Black kid, walking down the sidewalk in his dad's neighborhood and wearing a hoodie, and then someone (George Zimmerman) who thought that he did not belong there, proceeded to confront him and got in his face. And Trayvon lost his life, for no good reason. There is a color or race problem every where we go in this country and we should all talk about it, in an open and honest manner. If you go back and read my post once again (in context), you will notice that color was NOT the only thing or the main issue that I was talking about. The reason why it was important for me to mention this young brave man's color at all is because there are still millions of people who walk around in this country and troll on the internet, constantly attacking Black people, and always stating that "All Black people" are this or that or whatever. That they are criminals, lazy and are all no good. Therefore, in those people's minds, they want to believe and preach that nonsense that a Black man can never be a hero. For centuries, our government and institutions and the media have greatly perpetuated and contributed to this myth and stereotype, and unfortunately, they continue to do so. Therefore, in order for us to begin to reverse racism, we have to begin to acknowledge all that has happened and also recognize all of the positives. Not all White people are bad. And not all Black people are bad either. It should be about the character and the character only, NOT the color. I hope that one day, we would have moved so far beyond all of these shenanigans and gotten rid of all our stereotypes, that this will not even matter at all. But, we know that we are NOT there yet! I hope I have responded to your question. It was a good question.

you me, that is why we need to end the cycle. I know that for some people, it is ingrained in them from their grandparents and parents that African American people are an inferiority race and they continue to teach their children that instead of ending the cycle and looking at everyone as a human being. African Americans, while I admit are wary because of the past, also cannot walk around with a chip on their shoulder for the rest of their lives blaming every Caucasian person for things that were done to their ancestors. Everything that happens, people are quick to divide into African American versus Caucasian, how about just addressing it as Americans.

Some of you are sick. That smile and awkward chuckle, sounded like a nervous response. This interview is also edited. He definitely thanked God in the uncut version. He has the joy of being alive. But whatever you wanna call it, no matter what his motivation. Of course, he saved others and kept himself alive for his daughter, but being honest in saying at that moment he was thinking of himself. Until you have been in a traumatic and highly stressed situation, you do not think, trust me some of us understand. I know I did not in a house fire in my past.
