@almondpotato94835 жыл бұрын
Quick question. I know that black holes will all eventually die. But, what if, you build those giant mirrors around the black hole and start bouncing gamma rays around. Could you keep on feeding the black hole in such a way that you perfectly counter-act the affects of Hawking Radiation, causing the black hole to last forever, or as long as you keep on feeding it and getting back your energy?
@vsauce66645 жыл бұрын
@@almondpotato9483 I think it would stop the loss of mass for a while (trillions of years), but eventually slowing down the black hole's angular momentum, thus the energy supply for the black hole dissappears and the black hole will lose mass like nothing happened.
@Somerandom19225 жыл бұрын
I just thought of some horrifying ways of making weapons out of black holes... Want to sterilize a perfect swath of planets of life perhaps to collect resources? Instead of detonating your mirror let it build to close to detonation then direct all the energy output into a single direction, ideally with minimal spread.... There is now a wave of death equivalent to a tactical quasar going wherever you want... Also you could use this combined with concentrating mirrors on the other end to create a kuggelblitz (probably... I dunno) and feed it a few asteroids to prevent it from immediately decaying... Then send it on to a star of choice, now you have a new spinning black hole to work this... While you're at it, if you're feeling mean, rather than just sterilizing a planet with light, generate the kuggelblitz on the surface and remove all traces of the planet. Finally for a more conventional attack, instead of shooting light, shoot a giant asteroid at the planet which thanks to your spinning black hole is now going a significant fraction of the speed of light and will completely end life on the planet but this time they may be able to have warning but not be able to stop it

Because we can't make a material that reflects 100% of light. Even absorbing 0.00000000000001% of the light means the mirror will heat up and melt/explode when the EM waves in the cavity are too intense.
