Personal Opinion here: The one on the right is the antagonist and the one on the left is the protagonist, but the one on the right is the hero, and the one on the left is the villain. The protagonist isn’t always a good person, it’s just the main character that people sympathize/relate with.

The one a lot of people say is the "villain" honestly sounds like a victim to me. Like how the "hero" is implied to have treated them poorly before and the lines "so you're back at it again" in two parts of the song and then how the hero ignores what the villain is trying to say. Like how the villain says they feel manipulated and the hero's first response is to deny it and claim they're trying to help, which is manipulative behavior. Another example is when the villain is talking about their struggles and says "what about me?" But the hero says "what about us?" Dismissing the villain's feelings. I know this probably isnt what its supposed to be, but I just keep hearing it like this whenever I listen to it!

I like to think of It as the unrealistic expectations everybody places on the hero without empathy. Almost like the hero and villain just resonated for once, “The what about us?!” Is the peak of It. Nobody thinks about the hero and villain (well that’s a lie people do think about the villain a lot but that’s not the main media anyways at least In their universe) they just sprung a connection between themselves but didn’t bring It further. And I like to believe when the “Dying broken heart” Is very prominent It’s more like an actions speak louder than words thing, the hero says a “A beating human heart” but inside the hero Is still suffering. The hero and villain connect the most In this song but they can’t show It, they just can’t and with It being the “hero” (we don’t know who’s who) who approached the villain first and the reference to a past relationship between them makes It feel like the hero has decided something along the lines of “I am expected to save everyone but the villain and myself, but to save myself like I want to I need to save the villain. I need them with me again to feel that happiness and satisfaction knowing that If I stop I’m not endangering everybody else.” To heroes It Is always ingrained In them that everybody else’s safety Is their priority and that’s their life. Two children of humanity forced to spend their lives on an endless stream of conflict for others, not to ever help themselves. An inherent disaster on both sides, I refer to them as children because their actions are manipulated by the public: the hero Is obligated and has It fed to their mind that their goal Is to stop all evil and succeed, the villain Is like a misguided child nobody tried to help, the only one who could has been forced against them because they stood up to their unethical actions once and now they’re expected to do It time and time again.

The hero failed to save the villain from something terrible, making them bitter. The Hero tries to sympathize, saying "I'm sorry, But you don't have to be a villain" and the villain basically responds "What kind of hero can't even save a child? You're not my hero, you never were, and frankly I don't think you deserve that title." It's really quite interesting, and I quite like it.

To me, this song is about a villain who became who they are because of the hero, who had attacked the villain while they were a child (unknowingly, of course). As the villain looks over the remains of their childhood that had been ended by the person they loved most, the hero questions what they're doing in a place of rubble, and that's how the song starts. The hero knew from the beginning that they were the reason the villain was who they were, but kept their mouth quiet in fear that the villain would hate them. I have a whole plot in my head bc of this song but this is just my rendition lmao

oooo my friend and I have an AU. About two women, The Hero and The Villain. The hero and the villain were bestfriends from the start. They promised to get married when they were older. But the hero became queen and left the villain behind. She pushed her away when she was being abused and abandoned by everyone around her. The villain was trying to tell the hero that she needs her help. But the hero pushed her away and shook it off as if it was nothing. The hero also ditched the villain for another woman who was in love with her. So yeah. Pain edit: the plot thickens. The villain’s whole point is to help others who have been misunderstood. She was seen as a villain so she became one. She simply gives them a home until they can get back on their feet. She cares for them. But they don’t know that she’s the “villain” she uses a different name for both sides. Her actual name, when it comes to helping others, and her villain name. She also helped the hero make her way to queen, she supported her and cheered her on. But was still pushed away. take the pain

@crim8992 жыл бұрын
@@Ozloz ...neither of them are bad people. I feel like that's the furthest idea from the point. They are both doing their best with the cards they've been dealt (literally quoting the song here) and that's caused a big disparity in how they view the world/the people around them. At this point the "hero" isn't failing, the "villain" is refusing help--which is out of their control. Neither of them understand each other, which is the primary source of conflict (as well as pass actions, probably).

I love how this song can get two opposite interpretations: 1) The one on the left is the hero and the one on the right is the villain. The hero has defeated the villain multiple times and everyone adores him for that. However he knows the villain isn’t actually evil, but rather misunderstood. He’s known it for a long time but just about this song starts is when he decides to go and make amends with the “villain”, but the villain is resentful because the hero put everyone against him without questioning and believes now it’s too late to make things right. 2) The one on the left is the villain and the one on the right is the hero. Long time ago, when both of them where just starting acting publicly, the hero offered the villain a chance to redeem himself but the villain took advantage and made everyone think the hero was actually the villain, twisting all the actions of both of them for his convenience. Now the hero is hiding at his “secret lair” with his spirit broken as everyone believes him to be the bad guy while he tries to save the day, all because of the lies of the villain. After maintaining the lie for a long time, the villain goes to confront the fallen hero, leaving to interpretation wether the villain is actually trying to fix things up or if he’s just mocking the hero with his “heroic fake personality”. Anyway, it doesn’t matter if his feeling on this song are true or not, the fallen hero no longer trust the deceiving villain Edit: OMG Guys what the actual... how did I got so many likes?! Anyway thanks for taking the time to read my little interpretations ;)

I can see two different versions: 1. The person on the right is the person viewed as the villian by society, but is attempting to assist people, especially those who are overlooked, like those who are abused or in the lower class. The person on the left is the person viewed as the hero by society. They are manipulative and care only about fame. 2. The person on the right is the villian, many of their words are lashing out or an attempt at gaslighting. They are hurting others because they feel others should feel their pain. The person on the left is the hero, they care about the person on the right, know of believe them to be suffering some type of breakdown. However, they don't seem to care about people at large, but are focusing exclusively on the person on the right.

Alternatively, neither are the villain and neither have done anything to gaslight or manipulate but the right one has imposter syndrome and the left one is trying to get them to realise their innocence, while the right slowly becomes more unstable and displaced their anger on their "hero" The "villain" has probably been hurt by people in the past and thinks the hero will do the same so the villain puts up a barrier. "Stop pretending that you love me" - someone probably did this to them in the past ❤

Light from death note, who's a villain who only kills from his view of justice, is the person who tells the story in the series, however, he is in no ways a hero.but you are right because in the same series, L can be just as manipulative as light can be. What defines a hero and villain are there sense of morals I guess? But even that thats a grey area. I guess a way to put it is, the hero is someone society deems as good and the villian society deems as bad. Another example of an anime no ones heard of called hakeden, the main villain lost her two sons due to society's system. She's still a horrible person, but our protagonist, shino, is always yelling at his freinds and not listening to them when they're trying to protect him. Not all heros are good and not all are bad :)

it feels more complex than just one of them being a villain. I'd say it's more the villain views themself as a villain and the hero as a hypocrite, meanwhile the hero views themselves as a hero and the villain as someone in need of rescuing. By the sounds of it they’re both half right, and ironically, they’re right about their opposite instead of themself. The hero's apologies and admittance to lying to try and save them reveals that they have indeed done some hypocritical things. On the other hand, the villain referring to themself as a villain shows that they're acting against their own conscience. I don’t know what happened but they’re actively working to hurt themself by doing something they themself consider evil, so they really do need saving. On top of that, the fact they can still recognize their acts as wrong means it's not too late to save them, unfortunately, with their shared history together and the hero's history with hypocrisy, it's almost impossible for them to be the villains hero; in fact, the harder they try, the more they push the villain to doing evil. I've taken to calling this reaction the Adora effect recently(props if you get the reference).

i love this, its really "tropey" but i dont mean that in a bad way. its like the bare bones of a very common dynamic between hero and villain, of people who define themselves as such and the world defines them as such, but they don't really fit into them because they are people with emotions and flaws. the "hero" wants to bring the other one up and tell them they won't give up on them, but the other one wants to bring the hero down, like "you're no better than me" type deal. its the classic "we´re not so different after all" shtick. its weird how this feels like a very familiar narrative that many heroes and villains fit in one way or another, though i don't really remember reading or watching many stories where the main villain is the heros past lover but its perfect. it really adds a level of intensity to the struggle between them.

Everyone’s talking about them being childhood friends, but I raise you this. The hero is older in age, late thirties year 40s. The villain is late teens early twenties. The villains parents died due to the hero not being able to save them, the hero has said their apologies so many times but the villain is too corrupted by anger and sadness. The villain believes that the only reason the hero is treated as such, is because other people believe that they are a hero. Because their past will forever haunt them.

Idk. That feels like it's reducing(?) What they're feeling. Your take is great, of course! It's always amazing to see people imagine their own world (i haven't seen any other comments where they aren't similar in age, or love interests, for that matter) but to me, this was a song where they're both hurt and have hurt each other. Deeply, they want things to work out between them but their convictions and beliefs are too different to allow so. If the only reason the villain had to hate the hero was cause he wasn't able to save their parents even though they probably felt awful about it, then it just makes the villain look petty....idk what I'm saying anymore, have a good day!

I wanna say by the manipulative tactics used in the beginning the one on the left is the villain, then tries to make the other feel like they don't deserve to feel sad. Making them feel like they are sad for no reason and they are really trying to help. But the one on the right knows they are being manipulative and tries to make them realize that they aren't swayed. But has to act like the villain to get that through to the left side.

@alinsamano25703 жыл бұрын
This is the reason why I'm so in love with the idea of a hero turned "villan" Heros are expected to choose the well-being of strangers or ,in some cases, humanity as a whole, over their own loved ones. If they choose others well-being they are only putting up a front for the public(like the message of the song). BUT if they do decide to protect their loved ones they are selfish. They can also get a lot of criticism for 'wrecking' cities or buildings (or anything like that) while SAVING THE WHOLE WORLD!? Like would you prefer the whole human race getting wiped out or just rebuilding physical objects? Or also like maybe a few casualties over saving whole cities? ( Like in the 'Avengers' franchise) So I'm honestly very down with the idea of heroes just "Alright screw it if you think I'm so horrible and can't do anything right, save yourselves" and mess up the world.

i feel like the “villain” was abused, hurt, and bullied by others while the “hero” stood by and watched, not knowing what to do, scared to hurt, so never helped. the villain started to loose their sanity and was angry at the hero for never being there for them, and feels like the hero doesn’t care about them, because why would the hero leave them in hurt, if they really loved them? i don’t think there’s a hero or a villain, they’re both in the right, yet both wrong. it depends on the perspective you tell it from. the hero is selfish for leaving their friend to suffer and never helping, and the villain is selfish for taking their anger out on their friend.

Feeling very bubblegum vibes. Like a proud “hero” who thinks they are doing what’s right for the greater good but actually is kinda terrible at times. Then you’ve got the “villain” Marcelo me type. Like the I’ll beat the shit out of some people but I’m morally gray and wouldn’t sacrifice the people I care about for the greater good. Where ease the “hero” would so does that make her the “bad guy” or just a person b

I really felt the “ I’m sorry “ part because honestly it is so hard to get someone to see that everything is okay when it’s not okay and you try to make them feel better but you can’t because they’re in control of themselves and you’re not in control of them. But you still feel as though it’s your fault. And then the “ You are not my hero “ hits me deep because I feel like I’ve heard that so many times but in a different structure of words. It hits deep man, all you wanna do is help but they reject it...

My interpretation: They're siblings, maybe the "villain" is a clone (im a sucker for those stories okay-). The "Hero" truly loved the "Villain", but wasn't always there for them. Busy hanging out with friends, doing schoolwork, etc. The "Villain" was starting to spiral into depression/anxiety, and tried to tell the "Hero." But the "Hero" always brushed it off. They wanted to help but didn't have the time. This caused the "Villain" to hide their emotions, making it get worse. Eventually all bottles that hold emotions, it cracked. The "Villain" turned, well- villainous. And then the "Hero" tried to help. But it was too late. The "Hero" never cared, why now? Their care doesn't matter if they refused to give it out when it was needed! (Probably said Villain) If there was a way to give them a happy ending, we first need to shove the "Hero" away (at least for now). What the "Villain" needs is not to mend a broken relationship, that would take too much energy at the time. They need to get to a better place mentally, gain a support group, and actually care for themselves. Once that is achieved, then they can mend the relationship.

Another idea to this: The "Hero" was the favorite child. Maybe the parents insisted there was no preference, but it was obvious. Maybe thats why the "Villain" reached out to only the "Hero"

@@Curdled.milk1 same here. Don't get me wrong though I love my sister and I'd die for her, I mean heck I would do anything for her. Even though my mother's clear preference for her over me hurts, I don't hold that against my sister. It's not my sister's fault for how other people treat me.

2:19 I love the word you used for the line: "I recognize that you're upset" That is arguably the most hurtful thing you can say to someone who experienced pain like this. You may recognize a person's pain, but due to the fact that you've never experienced it, you've isolated them by saying that you can't truly understand their point of view. You may be able to recognize Polish or Hindi or Igbo or Japanese or Cherokee, but if you can't understand the language, you can never know what the person who speaks that language is saying. Even if you can understand a few words and piece the puzzle together, your recreation will be like a child's drawing of the other person's masterpiece. You may get the major parts of the picture, but all the details that make up the artwork will be lost because you don't know. "Recognize" and "Understand" are two similar words with very different meanings in this setting. Recognition often pushes the two further apart. Understanding often bring them closer together.

I agree! Although, saying “I understand” can be considered making it all about yourself - -;
