Zach Charendoff But nothing about them really went to tell on more about his character, which is what I want. I agree with Danielle that Reaper has one of the most enticing lore of all the characters and he has the least known about him. I'm thirsty for knowledge, the Reaper knowledge. And I have so many theories already that I want to see if I'm right or not.

+Caio Ramos The Captain America comparation is more accurate. Both, Jack Morrison and Captain America are enhanced super-soldiers who end up being part of a super hero organization and are the moral center of their group. Captain America remember why they Avengers are fighting for and Jack Morrison remember who the Overwatch really are.

Same here. He's a fallen leader who failed in his duty and he's now trying to figure out what happened, get behind the truth, and restore his honor. I like redemptive characters like this. You could see a character like him not wanting anyone else to be hurt and in his mind keeping his people safe by not involving them.

This short does tell you a lot about the character but you have to read between the lines of what is implied by his actions and pull back and look at the larger perspective. Sometimes the bigger story is something you have to wait for. Blizzard may have some cool concepts to bring to the table with 76 and they just want to introduce what he is doing now. Some great things require patience. We may be in for a great storyline after this set up.

They are doing such a fantastic job of tieing it all together. You can just feel the amount of love that the development team poured both into the game and the lore surrounding it. All the little details come together to form this world that draws you in and lets you be part of it instead of just being "that mexican payload map" in this case. It's also great how every character has their own connection to a certain place in the game. Like McCree says "yeah, I wouldn't drink the coffee" when starting on attack in Route66. And if you look around you can find a photo of him next to a gun under the counter of the diner. It's these little things that just make the game as a whole feel more "personal". TF2 has memorable characters as well, but pretty much only for them being, well, them.

The best thing I like about this trailer is when she says "You are one of those heroes aren't you?". When it cuts back to 76 in that pause I can just feel him thinking about all the times he was a hero when Overwatch was still active. How he sacrificed himself to save others, and worked along side his friend Reyes. I could feel that sense of struggle of remembering how Reyes betrayed him and the fall of Overwatch, how the explosion "killed" him as Morrison. And when he says "Not anymore" I could feel that pain he felt knowing that he used to be a hero, but he wasn't so sure of himself anymore.

Just a quick note; they didn't randomly pick her off the street to beat up a robot, he called her "Ale"(short for alehandro), meaning that the gangy knew her. As they often do in smaller places, big enough gang and everyone has a friend/someone they know in one. Ofcourse they're assholes still for taking her money, but that's why they're the bad guys. I think the gang, "los muertes?", is related to junkrat. They had a tag on one of the walls and it had that "psycho bomb" icon on it ;) Also i believe S76 is somehow related to the mom+ daughter in this, might even be the family he "left" behind when he was presumed dead. Would fit the timeline as the kid is around that age. Also the mother is talking about Ale like someone who would've been married to an Overwatch agant. Also he cearly kept an eye on her before the gang took her money as he knew to return the murlock purse. That's about the extent of my speculations.

Panzer.The people you saw were "Los Muertos".Apparently a a gang based in El Dorado map as you could see in the multiple walls on the map that have a gaffiti on it.Some heroes interact with this map and say something about "Los Muertos" as in mexican culture "La Muerte" is celebrated in "Dia de los muertos" and you could see in celebrations skulls,flowers and people visiting graves of their dead usually now celebrated on halloween.Thats why it appears as their logotype is the skull.As you could see in the short,she passes through one of those walls on her way to the guys.About soldier 76 now,he talks the way he does due to the crisis,everyone thought he was dead and out of the conflict that erupted,all his work went to dust and he was forgotten for what he was and what he did.He is a conflicted character who believes has no purpose now but he still is the same person he was.Thats why he stated "Old habits" about the reason he does what he still do even when he feels some sort of resentment for what happened to him.He is just finding his purpose in the world he is now just doing what he was meant to do even if he feels the way he does with the world that had forgotten him. There you go girl.Mystery explained. LUL

There are a few problems with reaper being a good character. We have seen from the old pics of overwatch when they were together reaper had his back turned. He was salty about not getting the promotion then went to the black ops killing group for Overwatch. I think it's more likely that reaper was shady and he was doing the weapons deals and operating more like red hood from batman. 76 confronted him about endangering civilians and weapons deals and they fought. Also in the first trailer he paused to look at Winston's glasses then crushed them, so he probably knew how much they meant to him. Reaper may have even helped create widowmaker by giving her to talon?

"May Two Four" Weekend up here for us. Also known as the Victoria Day weekend. Home late at night after a typically wacky day helping desperate customers find what they need. I think the "Old Habits die hard" line about saving the girl was he was given two options: 1) Chase down the crooks and dispense "Justice" or 2) Let them go but save a bystander. Saving the girl shows that as hardened as he is by his decades of combat he isn't cold.

One thing I liked is that Soldier 76 let the 'bad guys' choose the pace. I.e. he didn't start using lethal force until they did. He just reacted to the situation despite seeing to be there to disrupt their operations

I think this short was less focused on the action but more focus on the scene where soldier 76 saved her. Showing that, overwatch isn't just Action and Epicness but that the game does show compassion and love.

It's nice watch you, the overwatch shorts make me feel a lot of emotions, they are beautiful.

You could say Morrison was the Clark Kent/Steve Rogers of the Overwatch universe (he was a Farmer, then a soldier who was turned into a super-soldier, yet kept his boyscout attitude) and as Soldier:76 is now more of the Punisher/Jason Todd (and even Robocop) type of good-hearted yet ruthless vigilante, while Reyes was always the darker kind of character, yet good, such as Batman, and he's now kind of a Taskmaster aswell as also having Jason Todd-ish elements to the character (Taskmaster's part because he also chose a skull as his signature mask, a representation of the dead in "El día de los muertos" in México, and also trained soldiers in Blackwatch and Talon, like Taskmaster did with Hydra and A.I.M.) Not many People seem to have noticed that, so there you go.

I had a similar reaction to the video as well = ) "76" is the unsung hero. I played so many hours on opening night! I have to rest a little tonight. I think if all 4 videos were complete at the same time and they did focus groups it's possible that "Hero" rated very high. It represents what a hero is in the eyes of a normal little girl. She was brave by the way.

I never thought of the older generations' vs. younger generations' views of Overwatch point until you brought it up, but this short really does have a lot of that part of the lore in it. Alejandra isn't just moody because of her age - she's lived her whole life in a run-down, dystopian society, so she has no choice but to take a nihilistic view of it all. Her mother, on the other hand, clearly remembers a time when they lived in peace and freedom because of heroic organizations like Overwatch, but Alejandra has no reason to believe that such heroes exist... until 76 comes along. And even then, she has a hard time believing that he would want to prioritize the life of an "insignificant" person such as herself over chasing a criminal gang like Los Muertos. So many younger people today have that view that their lives are worth close to nothing in the grand scheme of things, and not enough people are out there proving them wrong. It's like Tracer says - the world could always use more heroes.

For all of you that don't know: While Jack Morrison (Soldier 76) took charge of Overwatch, Gabriel Reyes (Reaper) was given commad of the secret Overwatch Spec-Ops/Black-Ops team Blackwatch, a team that included Genji, Moira, and McCree. Originaly Blackwatch was meant to serve as Overwatch's friend in the shadows, doing covert operations beyond the Red Tape, such as intel gathering, or quiet extractions of criminals that for whatever reason was beyond the reach of the main Overwatch team, thus allowing Overwatch to secure peace and prosperity by using the intel and captures of Blackwatch, and then apliying due process to the situation. A great example of this was the Null Sector King's Row Uprising, where Blackwatch agent Jesee McCree had gone to London to do recon work prior to the arival of the main Overwatch team, thus giving Overwatch much needed tactical insight for the operation. However, Reyes used Blackwatch to do things more and more his way, becoming more and more independant of the main Overwatch branch. This would come to a climax during a mission two years prior to Kings Row into Venice, Italy. The mission was to quietly capture and extract a high ranking criminal so that Overwatch can prosecute him, but when Blackwatch cornered the criminal the man pointed out that thanks to his money and conections he'd be free by the end of it all. Reyes, agreeing with the criminal, took matters into his own hands and impromptu executed the criminal. This incident, dubed "The Venice Incident", lead Morrison to suspend Blackwatch indefinatly, including being suspended for Kings Row. Because of this, Genji and other Blackwatch agents chose to join the main Overwatch team. During the final years of Overwatch, Blackwatch was brought into the spotlight and caused a major controversy due to the fact that the public didnt know they existed, but also because Blackwatch had commited human rights violations, high-profile mission failures, violations of due process (such as in Venice), corruption and missmanagement, unethical science experiments, and weapons proliferation, amongst many other crimes. It is assumed that due to the independance and secrecy of Blackwatch under Reyes, Morrison didnt know about the majority of this, although this is unconfirmed. Anyway, Blackwatch fell into infighting due to differences of opinion regarding where to lead the clandestine group. McCree, disgusted by this, left Overwatch, while Genji was not present because he had left for Nepal earlier. The entire conflict came to a head in the Swiss Headquarters. The details are sketchy, but it is assumed that Morrison confronted Reyes during this incident, and in the following explosion both where considered KIA, with both Overwatch and Blackwatch being disbanded. Some time later McCree would observe Talon operatives employing Blackwatch tactics during the Train Hopper comic. He would conclude that either Blackwatch had established connections with Talon prior to its dismanteling, or agents of Blackwatch now worked for Tallon (this being true, as both Reyes, now Reaper, and Moira had joimed Talon), maybe both. Morrison is bitter, since from his perspective the fall of Overwatch was 100% Blackwatch's, more specificaly Gabriel Reyes', fault. However there is an open question as to how many of the Blackwatch crimes occured with Morrison's concent, since Morrison wasn't afraid to violate rules for the greater good as was the case during Kings Row, as the British Goverment had forbidden Overwatch from intervining yet Morrison had sent in McCree and the Overwatch team anyway. I'm surprised Panser hasn't touched on Sombra or her relationship with Soldier 76. There are a lot of clues and little easter eggs in the game about this character named Sombra who is somehow linked with Jack Morrison, there was a whole thread about it on reddit, would love to see what you think,

There is a theory going around that Reyes recruited criminals into blackwatch (such as mccree) and attacked the HQ with his team because he was salty about being looked over for leadership even though he had more experience. There is also another theory that Alexandra is Reyes' daughter and 76 is fighting the gang but his main goal might actually be to protect Reyes' family.

My confusion about all of this is how the timeline you described adds up to the ages of these characters. For example, Tracer is currently 27 (according to the official bio), if this is 6 years since the height of OW, that would put her at 21yrs when she worked as an agent. Pharah, who is in her early 30s now, would have been roughly 24. I'm confused how that makes sense with the whole "she missed her chance to join OW when her mother was part of it" narrative. The only characters whose ages seem to add up in that scenario are the older characters: 76, Reaper, Reinhardt, Torbjorn. Even characters like Mercy, I guess it's possible she was a renowned doctor and medical lead in her early/mid 20s but idk... the ages of characters and timeline seems ultra muddy imo.

+TradeChat I guess that makes sense. I think I'm just having trouble understanding how old everyone was/what led to their service in OW or lackthereof. Mercy and Pharah's ages just seemed confusing to me in relation to Winston and Tracer who are both pretty young but seemed very involved

+okteej Tracer was also frozen in time and didn't join overwatch until 2 years after its formation, so she is basically like 2 years younger than she should be... but yeah shes still hella young.
