I know we all clicked for the hidden gold base, but really, that 2nd game was a highlight for me; it was like watching a nature documentary, seeing him stalking around, picking and poking at Maru's entrenched position, scouting for weaknesses, before eventually pouncing on his prey. Maru definitely played it a little TOO safe; maybe he was just scared because of Hero's aggressive posturing, maybe he fell into a defensive position out of necessity after his bad opening, but staying back all game like that got him killed. he was just too passive, never got any damage done on Hero aside from his army units lost, and that didn't matter once Hero was up 3 bases on him.

I am amongst the biggest Maru stans out there. That said... Maru did try to get out on the map a few times, but to herO's credit he sniffled it out every time and saw every medivac just after it left the base. Tremendous games by both of them, but herO had Maru's number that day.

I've seen Maru hold for an unbelievable amount of time in games that look completely lost only to turn it around. Seems like this was one of the instances in which that incredible defense just didn't quite work out, but he's made miracles happen with similar patience in the past.

Maru couldn't really do much there. You can relatively easily defend 4 bases on that map, but getting a 5th is spreading army too thin - that's exactly what happened there.

The goal of Hero was clearly to don't let Maru takes his 5th base. You can see that all the game he tried to deny bases (the natural at 11:00 then he tried the 3nd à 12:40). And Maru can't do anything. Because if he moves this is a base trade, at 4 bases vs 7 bases, with Hero in position. And Hero is way more mobile than Maru. So the goal for Maru is to defend and pray for a throw. And for Hero the goal is to trade and don't let Maru expends.

I'm always impressed about pocker-face of Maru no matter what happens in the game - like a robot, whether when he is heavily crushed or when he is clearly winning - like you can't read any emotions out of his face - it's not just on this game - it's always the story

Game 5 is a bonkers. Hero got lucky with that tank unsieged, but we all know 4gate blink is a dangerous one. As a terran, without bunkers its over.

Love Maru Wish he would have adjusted to the early aggression that kept putting him in the back foot in this series. He showed his greatness in those games by surviving in impossible situations, but he just didn't adjust to keep it from happening. Dude has everything he needs to be the absolute GOAT. Just has to put it all together in these international tournaments.

He's already goated by gsl standards, which is the highest standard. You are correct, her0 is always ultra aggressive and it's not a surprise to see him attack this early, but honnestly what could maru do against that? I don't feel like he knew what to do either...

@@br4dley very true, but don't forget that if you don't put it on low ground fast, then you delay your own harassment which is Maru's bread and butter, but its obviously a difficult balancing act. I would agree though that VS hero I would have been careful, that guy is relentlessly aggressive

I think Mary really messed up in Game 3 by pushing into that overcharge, could’ve moved the the 3rd, cleared it and kept up pressure while expanding to even out the playing field. Easier said than done but lmk if I’m missing something

hero is literally the only protoss that is consistently in the top 5 top 10 is dominated by mainly zerg terran and then hero so idk toss seems weakest on the pro level also w out disruptors protoss late game is too weak so toss needs them to be a bit op Collosus and Carriers suck at pro level late game

@@briandaniel7335 don't know about pro level, but in amateur level toss is so OP with its battery shields, carriers, super cheap and powerful zealots, insane long range tempests. The whole race is built in such a way that you can A-click all game long. Toss is probably the only race where you can make multiple mistakes, and yet win games.
