Hi Kyle .Another great tutorial. I have a Hero 4 silver. And I'm doing some timelapse of plants growing on the window cill in my kitchen. We have just watched a week's worth of videos. It's so good!!! But I can see the whole kitchen. I have tried to narrow the FOV down to 'N'. But when I start off filming again. It's gone back to 'W' FOV. Why is this happening? Could you explain how to set it up So it stays on 'N' FOV, please. Thanks from the UK. Dave.

Strange but my Hero4 has a different setup than yours, I tried to update it just in case I was behind on that but seems all good, I have a drop down menu at the video/picture icon and that's how I access time lapse videos/pictures. I noticed this video was posted a while ago so maybe its outdated? I'm not sure as mines is a completely different setup

Thanks! I am also a newbie, this was very helpful. One [really silly] question... Battery life? I have literally just opened the gopro and charged it... Played with it a bit to get to know basic settings... But wondering how much battery life is affected by timelapse, and also how much memory it uses to shoot one? Say a sunset just for example... I'm guessing about an hour of timelapse? Would that drain the battery or use all the micro storage up quickly?

@anzaeria2 жыл бұрын
That is exactly what you get - a series of photographs. You need a video editing program to combine those photos together to create a time lapse video.

Was wondering what type of space specific time lapse projects take on a memory card? Maybe a 8 night lapse vs 12hr car ride vs 5 hour flight? Just wondering if I need to have a card larger than 16gb in order to have sufficient space, especially for my 12hr car ride I have coming up. Im a new gopro user. Thanks
@andrewclawson25519 жыл бұрын
well depends on how often you take a picture. For those kind of time lapses, you don't need that many pictures, many 1 every 10-30 seconds. Photos dont take up that much space surprisingly, but itll also tell you on the camera how many pictures you can take with the memory you have. It may say 9999, which means its >9999. If you do the math, say 8 hour night lapse, 1 every 30 seconds, thats 960 pictures. for every 10 seconds, thats 2880 pictures. I would get the 32 anyways if you havn't bought one yet anyways, they aren't that much more. Hope this helps, lit me know if you have any other questions :)

I have my gopro 4 sliver set to time lapse on an interval of 10 seconds. It runs for about 17.x minutes then stops. When I look at the video there is no time lapse it's just video. I think I set it up once before to a 5 second interval to get a sunset, may have been photo time lapse. I'd really like to use the video time lapse. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi I chose 0.5 second is that the best option for Time Lapse? If I leave it on all night from 12am to 7pm you think my 64GB microSD will be enough? And will the GoPro 4 Black battery last for 7hours on its own?
@MartynasRamanauskas9 жыл бұрын
***** You are looking for about 51K pictures for this time. 64BG won't be enough. And no - battery won't last for 7 hours
@2cool09 жыл бұрын
***** lol you don't need to let it record that long. that is way too long, it won't be a good time-lapse video. a good time lapse with on youtube should be around maybe 30 seconds or at max 1 minute. anything longer would just be boring. unless you decide do some creative stuff to it. but normally I think for a 30 second video you need to let your go pro record for maybe1 hour? i'm not too sure honestly. I have a time lapse on my channel but its sort of short. maybe 15 seconds? i recorded for maybe 40min.....i think 1 hour might be fine. and my go pro 32gb flash drive did get full. but 64gb should be fine for 1 hour. you would need to worry about the battery....maybe get the battery extender for the camera?

Hi Kyle, I really cant find out how to use quikcapture along with time lapse photo at a preset option. e.g when I set my timelapse interval to 1 photo every 5 seconds, turned it off while quikcapture was on, then I press and hold the shooting button and my Hero 4 Black went with time-lapse in its default setting (1 photo every 0.5 second). Any solution for this, please help explain. Thank you so much!

I just recorded a short timelapse (around 500 frames) I am just converting it in GoPro Studio and its took a long time, around 15 minutes just for a small clip. Is this normal? If I ever choose to do a sunset/sunrise timelapse its going to be at least 2 hours of clips which surely would take all day if not longer to convert? Im new to gopro by the way

Hi i just tried your time lapse instruction and tried to take an hour video and noticed that time lapse video i took with the same setting on your video is slower that what you take. do you happen to fast forward that video when you edit it?

Ruzzet Policarpio well how did you do it? like how did you make the actual video? you have to speed it up a lot!.....and it does depend on you. it's not like every time-lapse will have the same speed. you kind of have to do it when you edit.

I dont see this setting on the gopro app, even night time laps i dont see it in the app, do you have to do it manually in the cam? Plus how do you do a proper timelapse and make the video playback fast, when i play back in the gallery after i shoot it, it plays really slow, do you have to do editing? It doesnt time lapse straight out of the cam? I want to do do time laps and send it straight to instagram of facebook whithout having to to edit on cineform studios.
