I've been a Bruce fan since I was 8 yrs old. I thought he was untouchable, the best, basically invincible. Overtime that became irrelevant! Even he said don't try to duplicate someone else. Become the best version of you. (That's not word for word what he said, but it's the point he was trying to make). We all have people we look up to, the idea is not hold them in a "God" status! Yes they may be great at what they do, but you do what you can for you (lifestyle, physical capabilities, etc.) The people we look up to are guides to inspire us, they're not there for us to emulate or for us to debate opinions about them or to justify a story about them that's been told a million times. The saying "there's always someone out there better than you" should be humbling, not taken as a challenge that you have to be the best. Another great video, Bruce, Jesse, and a little psychology lesson also 😉...btw I'm one of your online students and fellow long time martial artist. So the question for the next video is: Sonny who?

It's hard to come to terms with some of the things you brought up. I'm definitely not the biggest person, and I'm always pushing myself to be able to get to the point where I no longer am seeing size as an obstacle. It's been my fight from day one, nearly 17 years ago.

Brother this is the most important video you've put out. I'm speaking in particular about inertia. Believe me when I twll you I'm the king of inertia (negative inertia). I'm not going to go into how I got that way because it's personal but you were spot on. I actually need help with it but there isn't anyone I could talk to that would understand. Anyway the point is just fucking do ANYTHING to keep from getting caught in negative inertia. I would also like to point out that if you're relearning a skill, perform it slowly until you learn it & then pick up speed. Do lots & lots of repetitions at the best speed you can WHILE maintaining the correct technique.

Well said, good and practical advice. The important thing about life is there must be balance. There has to be time to rest and assimilate what you are learning. Martial Arts is like any tool in that the skill of the user is more important than the tool. I think you hit on something that everyone should learn.

Bruce made him look like an amateur during a sparring session that got a little heated, he apparently was a bit to rough with one of Bruce’s students and Bruce decided to put the gloves on to put him in his place and that’s what he did, that was the end of that. Lewis talked a lot of shit but clearly didn’t want to have anything to do with actually fighting Bruce. Like most people, they talk a lot of shit but made no actual attempt to fight him.

Yes Please. I really want to see Adam talk his perspective view about Hung Gar or Hong Jia Style of Kungfu. Some says Hung Gar do have similar concepts with Fujian White Crane.

@Fly kyrt. For Your Information, Adam have nothing to do with Hung Gar? I recommend you watch the Video from Jerry his channel name is Fight Commentary Breakdown. In one video when Jerry interviewing Adam. Adam said that his father would prefer Adam to learn Hung Gar kungfu instead of Wing Chun. But actually Adam still chose Wing Chun. So, i think it will be a good video to see Adam talk about Hung Gar eventhough maybe he never trained it before.

With all that's been said: without the pioneers who made the sacrifice to prove what we can achieve today. A total sacrifice and now everyone feel they are better than Bruce Lee when they are not 1/3 as motivated to training as Bruce. Like Bruce Lee himself said let a wise man go the right way himself then teach others so he may have no cause to grief.

I am so glad you have made the sacrifice to understand the Bruce Lee's philosophy so well. Who knows what you can achieve throughout the span of your career. Shortly thereafter another group will claim they to are better. Not realizing the pioneers made the ultimate sacrifice to prepare the group work for them to thrive as well. They did not have to create anything but build on this foundation. Keep up the good work Sifu!

I mean.. a fight can break out spontaneously at anytime, and there could be weapons within reach, who gets the first strike in towards vital spots like the eyes, throat, groin etc. I mean it doesn’t matter how big and strong someone is they are gonna get seriously injured if they get hit in these spots. I mean.. what is the context, a boxing match? A real fight? You know what I mean? I don’t really get why jesse would say something like this 🤷‍♂️

When you say Bruce's students were not good - wonder who do u mean. Except for a few people like Dan Inosanto or Taky Kimura - he didn't spent a long time teaching - and some people won't train without the teacher there telling them what to do - or do next. Others, like some I know, u can show them how to hit the heavy bag for example - and they will practice a lot on their own - those guys become good - not those who stand around and wait for teacher, like most people.

I've stopped the vid because you've hit on something I have said many times. Now i don't have a club but I have shared with other clubs. When I was more active in Karate I loved to compete, didn't get to compete as much as I wanted. North Vancouver Island didn't have a lot of competitions and travelling at that time was out side my budget . When I got older and moved back to the Cariboo I got to compete more still small stuff but I got to. Found I hated fighting loved Kata. Guys would come to me and ask why I didn't fight that my karate was good and my katas were awesome. I told them and many of our new students that karate can make you a better fighter but it doesn't make you a fighter. I don't have the disposition for fighting. Always second guessing rules and worried about hurting someone .Say what you will about we all accepted the risks when we signed up for the tournaments it still prevented me from going hard beyond the friendly games of tag in the club. Like you some people are wired for greatness and some are wired to be special. Thats what makes the world go 'round.

My (speculative) guess is that Jesse meant in the boxing ring. And certainly, in the ring, Bruce would have zero chance against a professional heavyweight. In a street fight/no-holds-barred fight, even Jessie should be able to take on Sonny. Jesse is a grappler. Sonny is a pure boxer. It shouldn't be that hard. Now, if Jesse actually meant that Bruce had zero chance against Sonny in a street fight, then that suggests Bruce wasn't much of a fighter at all, frankly. And the naysayers would be proven right: Bruce is no match against a professional.

It’s a bit contradictory because the other day Adam was saying Bruce was untouchable for everyone that sparred him. Let’s be honest, ability and skill only goes so high and Bruce seems by all accounts pretty damn high in skill and ability. It’s like you can’t keep getting better and better eventually you hit a wall and it’s a case of diminishing returns you know what I mean

@@axelstone3131 It goes back to the old saying: there’s always someone better. Even with Yip Man. There’s a story passed around by the Wong Shun Leung guys. Bruce came back to Hong Kong from America and tried using some of his JKD on Yip Man. Wong said Yip Man shut him down and kicked him across the room. Bruce said “What!? You never taught me that!” And Yip Man said “There’s a lot of things I didn’t teach you.”
