I have never known why but there is something about this man and the way he expressed himself that is absolutely the antidote to all the sense of isolation and sorrow within me. I've never been this mad over someone I've never known. I was never the sort to moon over pop stars as a young girl. I was always proud of that fact, too. But this man has reduced me to a hopeless, trainspotting, groupie. I do love Peter. I know what he could be in his darker self and I love him anyway.

At 5:04 - 5:59, what Eleanor Bron relates...seems to me to be the clue to his personality.

I love the way that Adrian Slade says that Peter, "was a hit." It's an almost poetic example of our wonderful, tweedy 'Britishness'.

It seems Pete felt his own sorrow - took his comedy very seriously - even at Dud's expense, which was a shame. Dr.Al recommends anything by Tim Minchin or Eddie Izzard to lighten your load. Sail on.

'Heroes of Comedy' is actually a pretty badly conceived programme almost daytime TV, it uses that dated device of inviting people connected to the dead comic to talk, it works well for some comedians, but not for others. It is interesting to watch because a good number of the people appearing have since died which makes the prog even more telling. The production is very amateurish but happens to work because of the calibre of the people appearing & because it is sympathetic.
