"You save the world; I'll take care of the built-in cupboards." I saw this show on Broadway and laughed so hard my face hurt, but I have never seen anyone be as convulsed with laughter as the man sitting next to me. And to this day I can't hear (or even think) the word "myrrh" without hearing it in my head the way they said it.

amazing, so far ahead of its time, and holds up beautifully over 50 years later, a classic. and their ability to do live stage work with such heavy dialogue, in one take... aside from the writing of their own material, fresh and far reaching... acting on par with actors in plays, who many consider the best in the biz...

My theory is that all great comedians are just very good actors. They are totally believable; they become real people. There is a lot of truth in comedy. That is why it is so popular. The truth makes you laugh. Comedy mocks serious things and the superficiality of everyday life.

If you look at his facial expression, the furrows and lines, the change of shape of the mouth, he really is inhabiting someone else.
