Heroes of Might and Magic 4 Tips and Tricks #2 / Defend any city from almost any AI army

In this video i will show you how you can defend your city from any AI enemy.
To defend your city all you need to do is assasinate enemy hero. The AI will then retreat to ressurect him.
Heroes of Might and Magic IV is a turn-based strategy game developed by Gus Smedstad through New World Computing and published by the 3DO Company for Microsoft Windows-based personal computers in 2002. A Macintosh port was subsequently developed by Contraband Entertainment and released by the 3DO Company. The fourth installment of the popular Heroes of Might and Magic franchise, it is the sequel to Heroes of Might and Magic III, and was the last to be developed by New World Computing.

It still works against humans, provided you leave the city absolutely undefended! If there is no fight they can't get the free end of battle revive before it checks whether you have a hero to cap the town

Phew, saved me on Petty Claustrophobia when I was about to die. Rather lose 80 imps than get sieged by a huge army with pack of monks, lots of pikes, etc while having one Vampire and 2 level 1 heroes, they're not OP enough to pull that one off.

@@some4el The last time I played this game was like 15 years ago, so ... But if you look at popular Homm3 tips and tricks videos, you might can see what kinda of tips and tricks can work in homm4.

Would be good to cover the following mechanics. I am aware of them but do not really fully comprehend how they work. 1) Morale - how morale decreases when a stack receives damage and casualties. 2) Map movement - how adding high mobility units to your army increases your army movement eg adding a single Genie to an all-hero army boosts map mobility by 6 mobility points. 3) Retaliation - you can sometimes get free hits without retaliations (I don't mean after you've absorbed the first retaliation - I think this is linked to morale?)

@@some4elcompare path finding on heroes on various terrain but not on map of adventure but in battle and then compare it to nature spell terrain walk. Heroes and non flyers get penalties on terrains in battle. You could show the difference. Then add to the test tactics and how units suffer under such penalties.

HOMM games always had bad AI. IN Heroes IV it's pretty bad, the worst is in Heroes VI. And the stories are usually pretty weak. Heroes VI tried to change that, developed the mythology and than Heroes VII fucked it up. Such a mismanaged franchise. Such a shame...

You can't attack a city without a hero in the real game.

Did not know you can. The Ai has so many heroless armies wandering around the map... They CANNOT. It is good this way xD
