HOMM3 might be the best installation but HOMM5 is close behind it for me. Maybe just the nostalgia factor. But goddamn, was it a fun game to play with your friends we used to load up an impossible difficulty game with a huge map and then just grind againts the monsters. Was fun doing 500k damage with one shot from your 2k crossbowmen :D

Multiplayer on huge map? I played many Hot Seats games on small maps. It was just taking waay too much time. Especially if one player was Necropolis and had to fight every single monster. The only game I played on Large map (with 3 other people) I managed to watch whole Monty Python while waiting for my turn...

It's funny because Heroes 3 is so good that out of 8 games, the most recent of which came out in 2015, the third one from 1999 is still the most popular and most played.

I think it is due to the fact that it boast the most factions, as well as some good modding community (Horn of the abyss and other). I find the art style to be better too, though I understand some people may find it a bit outdated. I like Homm 5 a lot too, but it is just not the same. Though Homm 4 hold the crown for the best ost, in my opinion. Homm 6 and 7 are kind of failures, because not enough development time, and a lot of other issues. Which is a shame, I liked the oriental themed faction in the 6.

Sorceress town theme brings me shivers every time. it is like the chant of the ultimate antagonist behind all the realms watching her evil plans unfold upon the unknowing people. ps. if i'm not all wrong, the singer, Karin Mushegain, was only 14 when she sung this masterpiece, which makes it even more incredible.

Well, no. Sorceress is a "good" town in Heroes II. Most of the sorceresses swear allegiance to the noble Prince Roland and his claim to the Crown and the Throne, especially after Roland's generals save Noraston. That said, there are certainly quite a few Heroes II standalone scenarios portraying evil sorceresses.

Yeah this is not the version of "Wandering" that is actually used in Heroes IV. It is somewhat recognizable, but the arrangement in that game is very different. This tune is not used at all in any other Heroes game (I, II, III or V).

it could have more of the Heroes of M&M 2 music, like the grassland theme, battle 3 theme. Even Heroes 1 had good music, try Barbarian and Warlock theme for instance. At least there is the Sorceress theme of H2. Sorceress had more character than Preserve. Too many H3 fans were not raised with H2, they would know the huge difference. Its just better, if you have as highest Tier unit the Phoenix and not another kind of Dragons. Phoenix was added back later with Conflux, but thats not the same at all. Sorceress used to be the fastest castle with a strong own theme.

Yes, a lot of the music in this compilation actually isn't original HoMM music. It comes from a sample library called AMG Complete Celt, that's been used in a lot of games including the Witcher.
