Damn how much stronger foretress are when you fight with lower numbers. Me and a friend just had a battle yesterday, he was fortress and I was academy. Our heroes were roughly same level (ish lvl 13-15) and had both invested some in battle skills. His army was something like this: 6 upgraded dragons 14 upgraded thanes 26 upgraded Rune priests 13 un-upgraded berserkers 30-40 un-upgraded bears Around 100 upgraded spear throwers Around 140-150 upgraded defenders My army was something like this: 7 upgraded titans 16 upgraded raksasha 21 ish un-upgraded djinns around 30 upgraded mages around 40-50 un-upgraded golems around 100 upgraded gargoyles around 300 upgraded gremlins He completely wrecked my army even though on paper it is fairly equal. The reason is because on his first turn with the rune patriarchs he put down a firewall on top of my titans and raksasha or djinn in the rematches. It did initial damage of 260 effectively killing more than 1 titan in one hit, and 1-2 raksasha or 6-7 djinns. But not only that, if I stayed in the firewall with my titans to shoot then I would keep losing 260 hp EVERY turn. And if I tried to leave the firewall then he would take 260 dmg and lose his turn. So in reality the patriarchs alone made it so that I had like 2-3 titans, not 7. That is INSANE. In contrast I can see in the video that 429 patriarchs (which is about 16-17 times as many as my friend had) did only 1170 dmg on the gremlins which is only about 4-5 times as much damage. So the firewall is insanely broken with small armies, but "meh" with big armies.

I'm trying to imagine the scenario when dwarves also have their freakin' runes (and i mean the good ones; battle rage, berserk, dragon form, resurrect etc). It would've been literally a massacre

In the player vs player week growth combat which allows racial abilities, high level heroes and artifacts, Fortress is definitely the most op race. The other races can hardly defeat it with their own abilities. However, there is still a race which is possible to beat fortress with its lucky high power igniting destructive magic. That's dungeon. And it would be better of the grim raiders' first attack with luck and element chain to the magma dragons.

@@user-jk1ek4fl6q if the fortress hero succeeds to get the "Absolute Protection" racial ultimate (beside the runes) then there're no chances for dungeon to triumph at all. I think that shit negates even the "Warlock's Luck" ability. And the thing is, apart from the "endless bad luck" torment coming to dungeon troops from the dwarven skill, the "bearded fellows" still can get multiple lucky strikes. Combined with "battle rage" rune (which allows your current creature to smash all the other units around it, avoiding the retaliation), this is completely busted, I assure you.

So, unfortunately, there is not that much counterplay you can do against them (especially vs another decent player).

@@sandrothenethermancer7185 Well, it depends on the rules, like the heroes level, how many weeks growth, how many resources you have, how many towns you possess, etc. If you're limited 10 weeks growth, the heroes level would not be more than lv30, the absolutely protected drawves were actually less powerful than the light magic drawves. And, if the battle scale comes to 100w growth, each race possesses 10 or more native towns. The fortress might not be the strongest. In this condition, the haven would gain much more lv6 units than other races. And the dungeon units would do enormous damage from elements chain, which would be far higher than the original damage, maybe double, three or more times.

@@user-jk1ek4fl6q in situations like this, necro would be the scariest, i should say. Cuz, in larger maps without a time limiter, you can farm undead troops from neutral units as much as you want (well, you have some abridge of dark energy points, but the more castles you have and the more advanced you are in necromancy, the ratio will highly increase). Unlike haven training skill (which number of creatures you can train is heavily restricted per week and expensive as hell) you can convert much more troops into undead even from your racial "Transformer" building from your town. So, it doesn't even matter that much the faction of the other castles you conquered during the game. And not to mention the fact that if you get some creatures to join you from the adventure map you can change them in the transformer aswell. Therefore, in this case, necro is much more powerful than the other nations.

I would say sylvan with the correct artifacts are the most powerful, look to the rangers, with ossir they are op as fuck. And even in a 1o1 without bow, rangers could kill high tier creatures with ossirs ability. And then you have to consider the most powerful perfect ability of the sylvan faction, which is endless luck.
