X-Men The Animated Series united my school! I was a high school freshman when The Phoenix Saga aired, no one admitted to reading comics let alone watching them. Next day in home room, everyone is oddly somber then someone says "I can't believe they killed Jean Grey" and home rooms erupts! Everyone openly admitting they watch X-men! Laney, the only person who openly read comics is so chill "Let me tell you about the Phoenix Saga..." 🔥

This show was EVERYTHING to me as a kid. I was...seven when it came out, I think? But I remember being OBSESSED with it. Maybe it's because I've always been a later sleeper and it didn't air until 11 a.m. on Saturday morning (right before The Tick!), so I could still get up in time to see it, lol. But I owe so much to this show. It's what got me into comics. It shaped my tastes and talents as a young writer. I was writing fanfic for this show *long* before I had any clue fanfic was even a thing. I know it sounds silly now, but this show honestly affected so much of my life--and STILL affects me--that it will forever hold a special place for me. It's also just genuinely a damn good show. Okay, yes, the animation leaves a lot to be desired, especially compared with Batman (but that was always on a whole other level), but it was unlike any other kids cartoon I can think of at the time. It didn't pull punches for the sake of making kids feel better. It didn't dumb down the stories and treat us like babies who needed to be spoon-fed absolutely everything. I think that's also why it's still so enjoyable to watch as an adult. I'm gonna stop because I could seriously just make heart eyes at this show all day long. But I'm totally here for this rewatch and thank you for doing it. :)

yeah, it's something the movies were especially inconsistent about - there's supposed to be _zero heat_ from them; it's pure concussive energy (like getting punched by his eyes) from portals his eyes open from another dimension and any part of his body passively absorb the energy - they can be focused tight enough to shoot a hole through a coin & powerful enough to blast the top of a mountain off

I hope they get the voice actors from X-men Evolution or Wolverine & The X-men to replace the ones that died.

Feels like the actor performing the President was trying to add a bit of Kennedy affectation to the voice but couldn't nail it. I will say, there's a handful of variations of Boston accent that do have a LITTLE bit of Brit mixed in, primarily from the cities of Malden and Everett then up the North Shore, but this wasn't quite that either.
