24:03 Alberto deserves a LOT more credit for genuinely loving his sister. How exactly is Alberto supposed to get Sofia released from Arkham when the man who framed her to put her there then kept her there - HIS FATHER - is still controlling EVERYONE involved? By Sofia’s own account, Alberto visited her every week (after those 1st 6 months of isolation without visitors). And Sofia got released the same week that Carmine was killed - that is NOT a coincidence.
@Kevster9213 ай бұрын
Yeah, Julian and Alberto worked together to get her out the moment Carmine wasn't there to stop them. They are/were both ride or die for her, but you can only do so much when your opponent controls the mayor, the chief of police, the judges, the DA, and the doctors. Even in a less corrupt shithole of a city it would be nearly impossible - once you're committed to a mental hospital and judged a danger to the public, it's actually quite difficult to get out again. Julian clearly has feelings for Sofia, but I am glad that they're stating a large part of the reason he's so loyal to her is because he feels guilt over his part in her trauma. Carmine basically took a spoiled high society girl - his own daughter - and threw her into a torture pit filled with murderous lunatics, had everyone she loved (minus Alberto) betray her, and then left her there for 10 years. And when she's finally released, her brother - the one loyal member of her family - is killed, and she's the one who finds the body. Honestly, whatever she does from this point on, I can't blame her...
@lecomingbegend4973 ай бұрын
@Kevster921 @DelusionalNYC Plus Alberto probably only went to drugs and alcohol after Sofia was locked up. Remember that Sofia had no idea Alberto had been on such things, she was shook by this info. Alberto looked fine in the past so I assume the cause of his plunder was Sofia being stuck in that hellhole ran by a puppet. The writing on this show is amazing, so many layers, even with the hair and makeup. The yellow dress was representative of her being reborn after realizing everything. Reborn and willing to do whatever it took to get back at those who harmed her, first she used to voice, but when that didn't work as intended she resorted to other means. She still has morals of course, she's no monster, in fact she only harmed those who played a part in her unjustified incarnation. She did however save , sleep next to, and defend the one who was innocent in that scenario, the girl that had nothing to do with things and was just there. The girl might thematically be a reflection of Sofia in her youth or a way for Sofia to relive the innocence she lost.

It was such a brilliant move to have Sofia’s story start off in this bright and colorful charity event, then get darker and drained of color as they’re inside Arkham Asylum, and then have this gorgeous warm sunlight follow Sofia as she’s walking through the mansion past the bodies of all of her treacherous family.

There is a famous short story called The Yellow Wallpaper. It’s about a woman that was committed to an insane asylum against her will by her husband under false pretenses. However sane she was, which seems like completely, the reader is left to try make sense of the story she is telling after all the mistreatment and isolation has hollowed out whoever she was.
@diegoluna25493 ай бұрын
As Sophia's path has been shown more in the series, it has been shown that she was sane because she simply tried to trust Falcone. But still, knowing that he wouldn't care so that no one would betray him. He sent his own daughter to Arkham asylum. And even that treatment that was unfairly left to him by his father, his own family, is a joy. Not because of the injustice she received, but... that she was prepared to kill her own family and that it is... and showing that there is now no one capable of hurting her!!!
