The funny thing is that Veilguard isn't "Too Woke", it's just stupid, disrespectful and cringe. Previous Dragon Age titles were incredibly respectful and smart with how they introduced queer characters. There were no Tumblr-esque brainrot takes or anything. I used to read gaming magazines/websites to get to know what new games were about ahead of time, stopped doing it gradually and naturally around 2014-16, just because it wasn't working out. Reviews were gradually becoming meh, games were mostly meh, and on more than one ocassion i saw things like "10 out of 10, best game ever" on game that is okay at best, so they just lost their value for me just like that. Not to mention that the "gaming journalists" started to become basically just "journalists", as in zero to none passion in gaming, and even if there was any, they didn't properly specialise people, so a guy that knows a lot about fighting games can end up reviewing rpg game, genre of which is hella foreign to him... Also It wasn't just "one journal", nope it was basically industry-wide problem, that probably still persists.

It's very interesting to me to see one of "those" outlets put out an article that says the same thing I've been saying for years. It's not the mere presence of a gay or trans character that makes something "woke", it's what's done with it.
