START KELLAR'S KEEP AFTER YOU FINISH THE BASE GAME After the base game, there really isn't an order. Though most people play Kellar's Keep next. This gives the Witchlord a break and makes his return more dramatic. In the base game Prince Magnus is preparing for war against Zargon's forces. In Kellar's Keep Prince Magnus has lost the first battle and is trapped in Kellar's Keep. Return of the Witchlord deals mostly with the Witchlord's revenge on the Heroes. CARRY OVER YOUR HEROES UPGRADES Your Heroes upgrades, weapons, gold and potions carry over from quest book to quest book campaign. The expansions will throw larger parties of monsters at you. So you would most likely die on the first quest of an expansion campaign if you made new heroes with no upgrades. YE OLDE INN HEROQUEST is a Heroquest Community. Any questions you have can be answered here. Plus there are fan made quest book campaigns here. You also have resources here to make your own quest book and special cards too. Enjoy.

I loved this game as a kid and was saddened when it was canned and I never managed to get the Barbarian quest pack. We stopped playing it aftr several years and then my brother sold it on me for drug money. I'm so glad it's back and can play it with my wife and friends once again as they can now see why I loved this game so much. It is still to me the best RPG board game ever made and the moment Hasbro announced it I backed the Mythic Tier without hesistation despite having just supported 3 Sentinels. What makes it even better is now actually have an actual Witch Lord game piece. I always hated having to use the Chaos Sorcerer for him since he looked nothing like the Witch Lord.

For movement, we use a 6 + 1 red dice rule. It ensures party members aren't left behind and preserves the random element.
@garethholman10502 жыл бұрын
I'll be using 6+D6 movement to help mitigate the excesses for movement discrepancies whilst also allowing for some randomness. This way it shouldn't leave party members lagging too far behind with other members passing on their movements to enable them to catch up too.

I'm glad you mentioned Warhammer Quest and Shadows of Brimstone. It's a very clear lineage - with each game building on the framework of the predecessor. I've never played HQ but judging by your review it looks a bit too light - especially compared to the others.
@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork2 жыл бұрын
It might be light, but it also doesn't get overly complicated to the point where you are looking up the rules every time you go to play it because you forgot a third of them.

I was obsessed with the original way back in the day and when I saw they were reprinting it I was ecstatic. I backed it on the first day and pledged $200 for everything. Some time after that I became really disappointed with the art as I thought the OG looked so much better and wasn’t feeling the cartoony look they were going with this one. After years of looking and searching for the OG game I was excited about backing this but then after much consideration I cancelled my pledge. Now I think I’m starting to regret it.

It's been 30 years and I still don't know if characters are supposed to carry over or reset between expansions. And bonus, I wonder if they got rid of the US 1st quest, which was shoehorned in, used every piece in the box and was the hardest quest. Didn't learn to skip that quest until about 2016.

I’ll reply to my comment after watching, I’m glad the game has been reprinted for those who never had the chance to play or for anyone who might’ve lost it to time but it is a little disappointing that they didn’t revamp the game a little bit. I have an original copy that my cousin gave me years and years ago but the stipulation was that when he had kids I’d give it back and his kids are now 10 and 13 so I’m sending it back this year! Which quest from the base quest book has the line of sight issue. I am going to be Zargon in an upcoming session. You could comment or send me a useful link to read about it. Also what is the line of sight error or problem that is not fixed or explained?
@DriveThruReview2 жыл бұрын
Nothing in the quest book with LOS. The example in the rules is… weird. The orc in the upper right corner seems like it may or may not have LOS. It’s really a corner case. I think it would just be a house call at the time. I don’t remember the exact quest that has an icon in the wrong spot. It was mentioned in a Facebook group. I know I’ve seen it before on BoardGameGeek.com as well.
@paulbaker52562 жыл бұрын
Some of the models have bent weapons. This is easily fixed. Immerse the bent part in hot water for a few seconds (hot tap water is fine), carefully bend the part straight with your fingers. Careful, the plastic is very soft at this point. Then when the part is straight dip the model into icy water to set. All done. Kids are advised to get an adult to help with this. Then don’t store the models in the plastic inserts supplied. These are poorly designed and what bent them in the first place.
@DriveThruReview2 жыл бұрын
Ya. I had three models that were SLIGHTLY bent, and one skeleton that was bent pretty bad. But, the hot water trick fixed them extremely quickly. I also ended up throwing out the inserts and just put everything into the main big box, with plenty of room for future expansions.

Thank you. I should give it another shot now that it's been updated a bit. When it first came out, the AI was really "dumb" and very easy to cheese the combat. Other than that (which is kind of game breaking), it performed really well. The other thing I think it should do is randomize the quest locations like a real player would... but I realize that's a lot to ask of it.
