Haslab is supposed to release a new version of this game (though from what I've seen it is mostly just upgraded minis and art work...... maybe some upgraded rules). But they also said they would be releasing some expansions that never got released back in the 90s plus new ones at later dates.

I loved playing Hero Quest when I was a kid. We sadly never finished it cause my brother lost interest in playing after a few days . So every few months we just started from the beginning each time. My father was always the dungeon master. I played the Barbarian and either Alf or the Wizard (we always played 2 chars at once) and my brother always took the Dwarf and then either Alf or Wizard as well obviously. And my mother loved painting the figurines for it. He still has the game laying arround somewhere so maybe I will finish it someday with my kids. That would be great.

This was a bittersweet video for me. My older brother had this game when I was little. He was never into mini's or war games, so the game sat on the shelf. I would occasionally get into the game and play with the pieces. Over time the pieces of the game got destroyed form me playing with them. When I was 12 I discovered Warhammer and got into the hobby. As an adult I learned more about Hero Quest and really got a good understanding of what I destroyed. I have never been able to play this game and I probably never will now. SO thank you for this video, it hurts but at the same time I am so happy to see that people still remember this game and someone gets to enjoy it.

During lockdown I started playing this game with my 4 and 6 year old kids. They love it. I've never seen them eat their veggies so quickly so they've got more time after dinner to play a round of HeroQuest. Way back in December of '91 (I can't believe it was almost 29 years ago!!!!) I was working evening shift at a Toys 'r Us in Saint Louis, Mo., USA. It was a few minutes before closing time when a mother brought her daughter in with the HEROQUEST game she'd gotten for christmas just a day or two earlier. The girl had been trying to separate the figures from the sprue and had broken several of them. You could tell the poor kid had been crying. I called out to my manager and told him about the situation, he had me go grab one off the shelf and sit down with her and look at her sprues and exchange her damaged minis and sprues for our good ones. While I was making sure everything was taken care of I asked her if she had an older brother. She said she did. I asked her if her brother built models, then I looked up at mommy since I figured the girl might not understand quite what I was asking. Mommy nodded. I then asked if she knew if her big brother had a good X-ACTO knife, and again I looked up at mommy, who smiled knowing where I was going and gave me a big nod and told me that he'd just gotten a very nice X-ACTO set for christmas. I then suggested that if she asked her big brother real nice and said "please", she might be able to get him to use his X-ACTO to cut the figures from the sprue without damaging them. The little one promised me she'd do that, and walked away with a big smile on her face and gave me a big hug while I was still sitting on the floor with her. Her mother thanked me as well, and they went away happy. That was the closest I ever got to HEROQUEST. Never played it. I think that little girl would now be about 36 or 37. Anyway, that's my HEROQUEST story. Great vid.

Hey Emil, our HQ stories are pretty similar. I was able to play the game a couple of times when I was around 8-10 yo, thanks to my big bros gf having a copy. Although she took it home and I never saw it again, I think that was the initial spark that turned me towards the warhammer style products. But it wasn’t until I grew up and had a family of my own that I decided it was about time I got my hands on a copy so that we could all enjoy it. I found 2 copies in charity shops priced at jus a few £s each, however neither was complete but could be combined to make 1 1/2 copies. So after some fixing of joints and many months of painting (I don’t get much time to devout to painting) I finally had a complete game. 2 coats of Matt varnish later and we were playing! The kids then asked me about once a week if we could play it again so I’m happy to say it was all worth it! Both of my kids have made their own quests and I’m hoping that one day too far away we’ll be able to play 40k or a LOTR game too! (If only there was a streamlined/stripped down version that was as easy to learn to play as any of the other 200+ board games we have) It was great seeing your style applied to these old skool minis! And the addition of the 3D printed parts might’ve made me drool jus a lil bit! 😅
