HERPO THE FOUL + DEATHLY HALLOWS

my slowly developed theory on the history of horcruxes, their origin, and how horcruxes are made. there are so many different theories already out so i hope you enjoy my fresh take on the idea. this was originally a tiktok video which in turn caused me to further develop my theory. as i went into my research more and more things clicked for me and i tied together two things that i do not believe have been connected before: Herpo the Foul and the Deathly Hallows.

I have two ideas to fit to this theory maybe. I think that the Peverell brothers created the 3 unforgivable curses, Antioch Peverell created the Killing Curse hence why the Elder Wand had these incredible duel feats to take down every wizard the master of the Elder Wand faced his name Antioch also begins with an A like Avada Kedavra, Cadmus Peverell created the cruciatus curse because he was literally turtured from the Fact that his love died very early and again Cadmus begins with an C like Crucio and Ignotius Peverell created the Imperio Curse and again Ignotius begins with an I like Imperio. And we know that Avada Kedavra can destroy Horcruxes and maybe thats the way the Peverell brothers destroyed Herpo's Horcrux and it can be that through this Curses they were able to take down Herpo. And the second theory i have is that we all have the order of Voldemort's Horcruxes wrong that Voldemort created the ring first and then the diary which would make sense because how the fuck he found the chamber before he went to the Gaunt house and killed myrtle when he opend the Chamber

This is a wonderful theory! I think you're really onto something. It's not plausible that there wasn't a sicko Dark Wizard obsessed with immortality enough to succeed in creating a Horcrux kicking about anywhere between Herpo the Foul and Voldemort's lifetimes, so the fact that both of them controlled basilisks could easily be part of the reason why, especially since basilisk venom can destroy Horcruxes. To go further; perhaps Herpo designed the Horcrux to be a hereditary thing? If we assume that Herpo is the ancestor of Salazar, that makes Voldemort a direct descendent - maybe, like Parseltongue, the ability to create a Horcrux is something that runs through the Slytherin/Gaunt family? Perhaps Herpo's corruption of magic is so deep & awful that only his lineage is cursed enough to create them? Or maybe it was intentional; Herpo was so protective of his new immortality that he only wanted his heirs to have the same power vis a vis creating Horcruxes? Would marry well with the goal of establishing wizard (particularly Slytherin) rule over Muggles; if Herpo & his heirs can't die then it's just a matter of time until they win out. As for why Herpo would pass along the Deathly Hallows, perhaps it was for entertainment? You'd get quite bored being alive that long (he'd already be 1,000+ years old by the time the Peverells roll around), and I think it's right up a Dark Wizard's alley to create mischief for other wizards by gifting them the DHs. From what I remember, pretty much everyone who possesses the Elderwand comes to a sticky end - maybe he liked unleashing that kind of temptation on the world, enjoyed watching people throw their lives away in the pursuit of power? I can't remember what happens to the Resurrection Stone after the first owner but I remember that they have a tragic end as well. Loved the video!

this read beautifully!!! i absolutely love the idea that it would be hereditary within the ability to have a connection to the basilisk and create a horcrux! it would also make sense as to why that family in particular was so keen on inbreeding to keep parseltongue in the family! and for your part about why hero would pass it on😂i laughed when you said he was bored because literally yes! i absolutely see this happening! chaos for the entertainment! the simplest answer is usually the best

I think when Voldemort killed Lilly his soul and her soul was in his wand as we see in The Goblet of Fire he is able has souls in his wand. So when he tried to kill Harry the old magic protected him when that happened all of his victims came out of his wand like we see later on but part of his soul found it’s way to Harry.

Fantastic theory about Horcrux creation! I'm using it for my fanfic and crediting you. On consuming basilisk venom, I realized something. Harry gets a dose of venom in his arm in Chamber of Secrets. After that, Harry isn't as crippled when he comes into contact with Voldemort, and Voldemort isn't harmed when Harry's blood is used in the resurrection ritual. Could Fawkes have only removed the toxins in the basilisk venom while leaving other properties intact, just as a Horcrux potion would? Could that be why Harry is more tolerant of Voldemort and why his blood doesn't damage Voldemort's rudimentary body?

i am not entirely such that harry’s blood would have damaged voldemort’s body either way, maybe it did strengthen him! but i always perceived it as fawkes tears pulled the venom out so i don’t think there was any in harry blood to make it more similar to voldemort’s! but i love the way you are thinking!!

I just think it's interesting how Harry's blood magic burns Quirrelldemort to a crisp in Philosopher's Stone, but when Wormtail pours Harry's blood onto Voldemort in the cauldron, Voldemort isn't burned.

My theory is that Voldemort wanted to make a Horcrux out of Harry's death. He had everything prepared to make said Horcrux, however with Lily's sacrifice and the protection influcted upon Harry, the boy became the Horcrux instead

For being a parseltounge I think if you could speak it- you wouldn’t make it known. There’s no “speak to basilisk” at 2 o clock for beginners and so those that somewhat know how to speak it will never uncover it due to the unimportance of it and the stigma it causes (ie students thinking Harry is ordering snake to attack people)

I believe that story says, that brothers tricked him (using unforgivable courses that they invented) and stole from him. Later he was just taking his revenge and killing them one by one. That’s why the last brother with the invisibility cloak went down last (because he was the hardest to find).

So I think that avada cadavea actually serves love and the reason you die is your heart literally breaking from the loss so the reason that Salazar horcrox failed is because he was a freak of nature and had some love in him which killed him when the love was severed. In my opinion I believe that one of the steps of making it is by avada cadavra yourself. Getting rid of all ties from humanity aka love. Which explains why Voldemort was so scared of love. Now I do think that Harry was supposed to be the horcrox. But I think that part of the prep the person has to be named in the spell. And what gives the horcrox strength is by feeding off of the love. But lilly gave her love too harry bolstering it so he could defeat the spell hence backfiring on the caster . Now I think that some of Harry love attached to Voldemort and vicea versa making them eachothers horcrox's. Love your content but I had to get that out before I lost it keep up the good work

Hi I caught your tick tock and I got an idea for you to think about. What's the most disgusting thing an editor can read? Or something along those lines you said. And with baby harry. It's right there. The missing ingredient. A fresh life for a horcrux. A killing of a newborn would be very disturbing. But to a logical point. Sorry for the ramble. But my point is, Basilisk used to prepare yourself with its venom, the killing of a newborn and the murder to rip the soul to make a horcurx. Going further to Voldy, killing the ministry woman and using her unborn child to make a new body. Very taboo.

I don't know if anyone has said this before but I think what if the process to creating a horcrux is drinking the basilisks venom (like you said) to slowly become immune andd as soon as you are you can look at the basilisk without dying and that way it can separate your soul from your body and you have to do a spell to split it and put it into a persons or an object This would also explain why most wizards trying this died, because they maybe drank too much venom too quickly or not enough to be immune before looking into the basilisks eyes That would explain why parselmouths are the only ones capable of creating a horcrux because they need to get to the venom without dying (and probably a few times before they are immune) as well as have the basilisk look into their eyes without killing them afterwards (through eating them or something like that) Again someone else probably already thought of this and there are probably some logical errors but this is my theory of how the process works

This would also be another reason why Salazar Slytherin build a whole chamber for his Horcrux to live in because (this is mostly based on what we see in the movies because I can't remember exactly how the chamber is described in the books) from what we see the basilisk doesn't need that much space and I think they mention how the Basilisk is asleep until a parselmouth wakes him. So why build a whole room if you don't come there regularly. And if this theory is correct you probably need some time to recover after each time you take the venom. And seeing how affected Harry is after beeing injured you probably wouldn't have time or strength to go anywhere else (or in case you bottled it up wouldn't want to be seen in such a state). Wich brings me to the next part of this theory that Salazar Slytherin didn't actually leave Hogwarts he just started living in the chamber (maybe he left from time to time to get materials or something idk) and there he tried to make a horcrux with his Basilisk to ensure no muggelborns could ever enter the school because he would be immortal. I know in the canon version it is said that the basilisk is supposed to protect the school from muggelborns but I don't think someone as hateful as that would leave his mission up to the very slim chance that there would always be a parselmouth at the school who knew about the chamber and how to access it. So he probably didn't think he would die during his tries to create a horcrux and that is why the chamber is so big and has a basilisk sleeping in it without it being 'used' for centuries Again this is only my theory and someone else has probably already thought of it

I think they mention in the book that the thing that split his soul the last time (Harry) was the act of killing an innocent child PLUS the whole love sacrifice thing. And that would also tag along with the Bertha Jorkins being pregnant thing to make Nagini a Horcrux?? Maybe it has to be a pure soul, (or someone not defending themself) that's killed for the Horcrux. It would track with Harry, Bertha, and Myrtle at minimum...but I don't know if it works for everything? His dad isn't like, innocent, but i don't know. Whatever these videos are giving me life :)
