I own 4 little America’s and I love it.Definitely worth the high price tag.I think the rubber straps are better than the leather straps durability wise.My leather straps broke in less than a year but my rubber straps lasted a lot longer.Definitely something to consider when your buying one.

I've had mine for five years, and while the blue color has faded a little (or it might just be really dusty), it looks and feels like new. However, I had to replace the strap, and glue one of the magnets back into place, but I can't exactly say I've been careful with it, either. Overall I think it's a great backpack for the price. What is loses in practicality, it makes up for in style and then some.

I got mine as a birthday gift 6 years ago (2016). It was a Herschel Mid Volume (17L). Today, 2022. The string gets cut off for some reason. The magnets are no longer attaching. Maybe due to old age? It had a good run for 6 years. It covers the entire period of my 4 year College life, and 2 years of work. I'm literally using it everyday at school and work. The commute situation here in the Philippines is very challenging, and my bag survived it. I'm going to buy another Herschel, maybe the 25L now. This is the only bag I have that lasted for more than 4 years, and it's worth the price.

Is the rubber straps durable after years of use or prone to rubber reversion where the rubber becomes sticky. Or is the version with synthetic leather better?
