Yep. That should not have happened. Probably due to age and how it was made at the time. It still looks nice with the lid on. I do think using that is more fun than the stove top!

Since it's ceramic, you can use enamel model paint (Testor's works REALLY well) on the outside to fix it. Just be careful not to get it on the surfaces that will actually touch food. We fixed our cookie jar's paint that way.
