it's sad to watch this video, just thinking about all the high hopes we had for 2020 and how much of a painful last few years it's been. honestly, the optimism and good feelings of 2019 really do feel like they were ages ago that being said, it's still exciting to see that Chocolatetown opened and it has been a big hit. I'm going to Hersheypark for the first time this summer and i can't wait

I honestly can't wait for this. So, this is Hershey's version of Disney Springs down in Orlando. In addition to the large restaurant they're planning, it would be nice if they can include some non-Hershey, unique restaurants that can't be found anywhere else in the mid-state. How about a Cuban/Caribbean restaurant, a Sprinkles (or similiar)... an Asian restaurant.. a Cheesecake Factory, and a gourmet Pizza place (a la Blaze) would be amazing. ❤

Will some of this be open year round. I cannot ride the amusement rides anymore. I'd like to be able to go to the restaurant, ice cream shop and stores without paying for admission. I was hoping this would be like downtown Disney or the universal boardwalks.

Not sure if they are keeping the existing shops, but this all is located in the land that is now empty at the end of the tram turn around.

If you look at the rendering @1:29, you can see the Hersheypark Arena to the left rear. This means that Chocolatetown will likely be at the entrance where the trams let off. Expanded front and to the left. I imagine that the Tudor-style shops will be a thing of the past.

The good is that this will make getting in to the park easier, since the existing entrance was a massive bottle neck anyway and it had that steep hill and I'm sure this design addresses the flooding in the park. The bad is that is replaces the existing entrance with a glorified strip mall, complete with a starbucks, just to make certain to all that they wanted a strip mall. No shade trees, No benches to sit down, no theming and all of the classic rides have been removed for a adult new coaster and a fountain?! This is really the best the designers could come up with? Are the classic family rides being moved to another part of the park or just removed?

Yes, it looks like it will remove the existing shops along the entrance way all the way up to the old entrance gate castle, where they scan tickets now. Looking at the layout on google maps, the new entrance area goes forward in to vacant land across from the tram circle and the coaster comes up behind sky rush where there's some sort of maintenance facility. So I take it back, should have looked first, the existing kid rides will probably stay and who knows what they will put in the place where the carousel was moved from. Hopefully they'll plant some shade trees and add some benches, these brick open strip mall plazas turn in to open air brick ovens in the summer.

I agree with you on the shade, but I'm pretty sure they will keep all the kid rides near the front; they'd be crazy not to. Those are popular especially during Christmas time.

Tia Muldoon The temporary entrance was put where the old one was. It was a large, white tent that had Hersheypark written on top. You walked through the construction with construction walls all around you. The new entrance will be located probably where or around where the bag checking area was for 2019. Hope this helps!

The carousel is being moved to the front gate, as at Six Flags New England. Actually, the carousel has been closer to the front gate than any other ride since 1973. But in 2020, it will be farther from the center of the park, with the new roller coaster on the Parkview Golf Course.
