It was started by Harry Reese and his son. My uncle married the son's daughter. She is in her 80's. She remembers her dad going to Philadelphia to pass out candy to get feedback and to get word out. Every time we would go visit my grandfather we would check the freezer that was in the garage. There would usually be a box of the little Reese's inside. And my grandfather always had Reese's pencils in jars in his office. He had a farm about 3 miles outside Hershey. When the wind was right you could smell the chocolate all day. They are still my favorite candy and it's the combo!

I've been eating these for 65 years. I love them, of course. However, I get really peeved when I get one (or a bag of them) and the peanut butter interior has turned a light yellow. That means it is no longer soft on the inside, but rather, caked. And stale. This happens more often than you'd think possible over the course of six decades. But most of the time, they are nice and fresh (dark yellow interiors) and, obviously, my favorite candy.

When I was a kid in the 60s the chocolate of the cup had bottoms, nowadays they do not have real bottoms. Just a hint of chocolate that sticks to the wrapper leaving the cup bottomless. It is still my most favorite candy however like everything else from the beginning they eventually become cost saving filters of the original item.

the wrapper was paper and breathed to its not like now where the wrapper is like a ziplock bag and it tastes like wax if it gets hot ruining the taste , they are great still if new

Quality control high-ups should look into adding more chocolate to the bottoms. It did bug me when the paper grabs on to the middle bottom and pulls it off.

When I was a kid in the early 60s potato chips were heavenly delicious, especially the Wise potato chips with the owl eye on the bag. They were absolutely irresistable but in later years they became bland like the other brands. I believe it's because at the time the potato slices were originally fried in animal ''fat'' and were more than likely not very good for your health. You can't find that nowadays because the chip industry replaced the animal ''fat'' with vegetable ''fat'' and I'm not sure they are healthier. Hydrogenated vegetable oils, however, contain trans ''fats'' that can raise the risk of heart disease and other health problems. One thing is certain, nowaday chips remain a popular treat but not for old geezers like me. I'd give an arm and a leg just to eat and savor these ''originals'' full of crispy bubbles at least one more time before I croak. Does anyone else remember the Wise chips brand's flavor of the 60's. What are y'all's opinions?

I am a peanut farmer in Georgia USA. They pay us roughly $500 per TON for our peanuts. That's $0.25 per pound. Or for everyone else in the world, $0.55 per kilogram. If the standard peanut butter cups (0.75 oz) are composed of 50% peanuts by weight, then a 2 pack has about $0.01 worth of peanuts in it.

I highly recommend the Zero Sugar mini PB cups. Not cheap but virtually indistinguishable from the regular ones and no blood sugar spike issues. Walmart online has them.

When chocolate is tempered correctly (these aren't), if you break it in half or bite the chocolate makes a snapping sound-it also doesn't get all over your fingers in 30 seconds or stick to the bottom. Source: i'm a chocolatier, I make my own pb cups. Still enjoy a Reese's now and again-too much sugar for me though 😅
