I was blown away by this movie. At the time I lived in Bologna, Italy, and in a nearby gorgeous old town (Ferrara) the musicians who recorded the soundtrack to this movie (Tenore e Concordu de Orosei) were given a live concert while the movie was screening. After the show, I was walking back home and came across the band who was having dinner at an outdoor restaurant, under a medieval portico right next to the theater. I told them they were great, they let me join their table and we had an amazing time, eating and drinking, while they told me how funny and crazy it was working with Herzog. As I went back, wondering through the ancient streets of Ferrara in a gorgeous mid-summer night, in my late 20s penniless and with no plan of what was lying ahead for me, I felt genuinely happy and the memory of it, of that one single night, still reminds me that life can be beautiful.

I did spend two weeks in Ferrara in the mid-eighties as a Hungarian visiting scientist and I was also caught in the magic of that town, having one of the best times of my life there... Indeed, this is the greatest challenge of arts and sciences, somehow capture this duality of our human existence: on one hand being alone in a space of thousands of light-years and with hardly ten millennia of civilization in the midst of billions of years -- while on the other experiencing wonders such as a dinner, a walk, a date, a conversation in the streets of Ferrara -- or Santa Fe, or Cambridge, or Casablanca or Buenos Aires. Many faced this challenge, few could respond to it...

One thing is for sure :" Werner Herzog is different. My fav. encounters at the end of the world/ white diamond and the herdsmen. Actually all of them are awesome. Hallo from Germany and Danke for the upload.

I love the lo-fi/using real footage aspect. To do this with big budget CG, etc, would miss the point entirely. Thanks goodness for Werner Herzog.

It feels as if I have had a dream of the future, the end of homo sapiens, an ancient earth recovering to prehistoric times and now digitised for posterity. And yet the film tells us we understand nothing our consciousness is but a small heartbeat in flexible time.

Every time I make something out of the leftovers in my fridge I think I've been clever.... Until I suffer the taste. You've done better Werner.

Fun. Brad Dorf’s lines are good but his delivery wasn’t. Brad is an amazing actor but he could have found a more compelling personality style for his Alien. I get the hippy as Alien loser

I've seen enough of Dourif's work to know he can act well. I suspect his delivery is exactly whatever the director was asking for.

welp i guess werner got to use up his leftover found footage and outsider music. i like dourif, but it was so lazy and annoying to make him the lead and playing up his annoying cali accent and mannerisms. if you have a big screen tv just turn the sound off, go about your housework & take a look at the images now and then.

How is it a Werner Herzog "college film" when it clearly says 2005 and Brad Douriff is clearly in his 50s😂
