I bought 2 Hessaire model MC18, and use them instead of a central unit. i have to add water during the day, but much prefer these to an outside central unit. I am 67 with arthritis, and can maintain and use the units without help. I cool a 800 sq ft living area (doesnt include kitchen or bedrooms) during the day in 104 degree heat. These allow comfort from the heat inside. I would recommend the purchase of a Hessaire unit.

Hi Kev, great video. Just a quick FYI. In the video it seems you are indicating on the Home Depot website that you have the model MC61V, however, the unit you are using in your house is the MC37M rated for 3100 CFM and 950 square feet of space, not 1600 square feet. There's about a $200 difference in price, as well. Thanks again for the video. I used to have a Hessaire MC37M. Unfortunately, I live in Southern California and I wish I still had it.

MY refrigerated air unit motor died yesterday, and it's going to be 4-5 days before I get the replacement parts. I think I might buy one of these swamp coolers. My house is only about 1400 SF so this model should work great, plus I live in Las Cruces, NM and the humidity is very low here.

I have this model and the portal to add ice or water seems small...if u have added ice, are you using a particular ice maker that generates ice that will fit in that slot?

Sometime ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I just ordered a window unit for my house, gonna try and get my electric bill down. Living in the hot desert, I learned it's always a good idea to have a window shaker ready to be thrown away n the window, and a generator for when the power goes out.

Kev Great review. Thank you for taking the time. Question do you have to open a window for it to work properly? I am headed to get the smaller one. That’s what I can afford, but your order no sealed the deal. Thank you so much.

Swamp coolers need tons of ventilation. It needs dry air incoming and you need to allow the "cooled" extremely humid air to escape -- otherwise you'll create a sauna. The best case is using these outside in open areas.

Yes it does. Has to have to open access points. Open a door and maybe an opposite window. Works great gets about 20 degrees cooler.

I have one its a evaporated cooler works inside will make your living area humid but if you place it in a door entrance and make a temporary mold let the dry air from outside flow through the water like a traditional swamp cooler will get cold lol

It was 90 during the Day and 85 outside at night when I did the video. To be fair if it was 100 outside you will would need more than one unit. Be careful though because I just used this as a temporary measure until my AC got fixed. I would not want to run this for weeks on End because it puts out alot of moisture and you don't want any kind of mold build up from that. Or maybe get a dehumidifier too if you have to run it inside your house for an extended period of time.

What city are you in? I’m using a new air until I get mine fixed, but I know I only have a few more days with it. It was between that one and the hessaire. I was afraid the hessaire would blow out to much moisture because its more powerful. I am running two dehumidifiers to try and keep the moisture levels down. I wish I could get through the Summer but in Dallas it’s going to get to hot for that in in a couple of weeks. My place stays humid without the evaporator. But I try to kedp the humidity no more than 57 when the unit is running full blast. I wish I had seen this before I bought the Frigidare New Air.

Thank you for your comments, I will take your advice and put the model number in the titles. I live in you Houston so I can relate to that Texas heat you feeling.. Also yeah the Hessaire does put out alot of moisture but is but with your dehumidifiers you should be good. Stay cool

@@TheOriginalKev Thank you! I’m tempted to take this Frigidaire back to Walmart and get the one you have. I would get a portable AC but my windows are all about 7-9 inches off the ground. I’m so scared that bugs and creepy crawly critters will get in through the window or the exhaust hose. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I wish I could figure out a way to guarantee that that wouldn’t happen.

I live in Dallas county...the hot season is here! I was online shopping and bought a tiny window ac unit to help cool the house. Wish I saw this too, cause it would be a good alternative since its mobile. I've been running my dehumidifier too.

@@jaeshasway My portable AC is attached to my patio slider. I am upstairs. I have balcony. Ocasionally I get a cricket or two coming in. And I am on the second floor. You might get more than just bugs if your window is that close to the ground.
@jaeshasway
@jaeshasway 3 жыл бұрын
@@James-akaRhino I decided to put it in my second bedroom that’s on the patio vs my bedroom which would basically be near the ground in some bushes. The window that it’s in is perfect and nothing has gotten in so far, but I used a lot of insulation and even taped all the crevices. I bought a hose extender and a door kit to block the room so the cool air stays outside the room and the AC sits in the hall to filter air into my bedroom, living and kitchen areas. Almost time to uninstall it now as it’s starting to cool down in Texas. Walmart took back the New Air no questions asked. I will never buy an evaporator again. Too much maintenance and the machines are poor quality.
@jaeshasway
@jaeshasway 3 жыл бұрын
You should put the hessaire model number in your title also so that it will get those search hits. You can also tag the other models in your description box. There aren’t many videos on this model so people will gravitate to it even if it’s a smaller model. A maintenance video for storage would be greatly appreciated.

They work up until a point.They'll cool your house up to 20 degrees from outside,but they'll put the relative humidity in your house over 60 percent.So if it's 100 + degrees,it will be 80+ degrees and humid in your house....which is oppressive
@davidmcclellan2786
@davidmcclellan2786 2 жыл бұрын
That depends on the humidity where you live. I run a humidifier and can't get my humidity over 35 in the house. On a hot day where I live the humidity is 10% or less.

Absolutely, for all of you out there that may get this please just know that this is for temporary relief in an emergency if you are using it enclosed and indoors. But if you are using it outside or in a garage you are fine. Thanks for your comment.

You might want to do some homework on how evaporative coolers are supposed to be installed. You need to draw air in from the outside and make it flow through the house and out a window on the other side of the house or room. Also, you need to look at a chart that shows how much cooling is available depending upon the humidity outside. Running a swamp cooler inside simply adds more humidity to the air and eventually will make things feel even warmer.

your pretty Vanna White assistant has convinced me to go buy one! But I do have a couple of questions: 1) does you house have a mildew problem with all that moisture dumped into the room everyday that fan is on? 2) how many watts does that monster fan take to run, about 1000 watts or so?
@AppleBag1000
@AppleBag1000 3 жыл бұрын
if you ran that 24 hours a day it would use about $30.00 a month to run depending on the electricity cost in your area, much cheaper than AC unit

@@AppleBag1000 run it 24/7 for only $30/month? that's about $0.04/hour - that is incredibly efficient for that monster fan.

I live in Sun City Arizona. And this thing is useless for the garage,. It's only good for already cooled down areas. What's the point in buying something to cool if it only works when it's in an already cool place? Just blows hot air on ya'. My $25.00 fan did the same thing. This is nothing more than an expensive Humidifier. And no where to insert ice blocks if you wanted. Completely useless. Waste of money. Don't buy
