Could you do a video showing the differences between NOT covering with hessian?
@GMTpointingspecialistsltd3 ай бұрын
No because you need to cover it and keep it wet I don't want to show people not covering it it will just turn to dust

See on the ground sections of the brick work that will be inline with slabs or ground at bottom, how do your repoint these areas with lime mortor for setting? Will it need to be excavated and kept pumped? Also with the ground level being wet how do you keep the lime mortor from going back to putty once ground works are reinstated? Mix being 2xbuilding 1xsharp 1x3.5hl I have a 120 year old solid red brick house and mortor is failing at ground level where previous owners pointed with concrete and started busting the brick faces Plan is to repoint with the proper stuff, comfortable with everything else above, just ground level works seem to have different factors at play

Never use building sand Mix grit and sharp sand together Nhl 5 is very strong use a nhl 3.5 If its ground level Keep the ground clear of pointing For atleast 2 weeks Under ground use nhl5 But keep any water and soil away for 2 weeks cover with protection Nhl will set under water in 2 to 3 weeks but I'd keep it back as long as you can

How far off the face off the brickwork do u keep the sheet?
@GMTpointingspecialistsltd3 ай бұрын
The hessian you can have touching the wall or if you atatch it to a button the thickness of the button is fine In the colder weather you want a small gap
@jonatho66774 ай бұрын
Could you use a dust sheet as an alternative?
@GMTpointingspecialistsltd4 ай бұрын
I wouldn't they don't stay wet as long as hessian

@@GMTpointingspecialistsltd thank you for the reply. Would a week be sufficient time to keep the pointing covered?
@GMTpointingspecialistsltd4 ай бұрын
@jonatho6677 yes But if its really hot weather I'd do it for 10 days
