Jeff Joniak is such an amazing announcer. I prefer listening to a Bears game than watching it. Joniak makes it so much fun to listen to with the amount of energy he has

Hester changed the kickoff rule forever. Because he was so good all kickoffs are mostly touchbacks now.
@HamburgerHelperDeath Жыл бұрын
No he didn’t. The rules were changed due to injuries and concussions. Nice try.

@@HamburgerHelperDeathat that point in time he actually did, by the end of that season and the next teams would rather kick it to the opposite side out of bounds, than to give it to Hester.

Which is incredible that the league would do that considering how exciting kickoff returns can be. Brain dead stupid. But yeah put this man in the hall the fucking goat

I was in a motorcycle accident and was in hospital in Thailand. They didn't have the superbowl on obviously, so I checked myself out for the night, watched the game, checked back in the next day. It was worth it just to see that TD live.

For two weeks the colts were obsessively planning for this. Then opening kickoff, I knew if the Bears could get the ball, the guys on the coverage team would be overthinking and full of nerves...by the time you start thinking, Devin Hester is running by you..way too fast to think on.. I was predicting this for two weeks. Because I was so excited for it, I was hanging on the coin toss and yelled YES and started pumping my fist when we won it. As he ran this back, I was screaming some more. Jumping up and down 3 feet from the TV. "GO GO!" Just like Thayer. I was shaky afterwards just like Joniak describes. To this day it gets me pumped and gives me chills just to watch a replay. For me, this is the greatest single play ever made in all of sports. Devin Hester and Dave Taubs return team taking back the opening kickoff of the Superbowl for a touchdown. Nothing has ever matched the excitement and intensity of this moment. Additionally, this game was predicted for Indy to win as a 7 point favorite. So this kickoff was huge. For two weeks Bears were "not gonna be able to score enough" and "needed to get a lead on Peyton Manning", and "help the defense" and "start with a lead". When he did this, it was everything they needed and it felt like he not only canceled the 7 point favorite, but took over the momentum of the game and crowd and stadium right out the gate. Devin Hester returned kicks were something else. It's impossible to explain to someone how these felt as they happened. (You had to be there or be watching at the time.) They felt like miracles so much of the time. The guys were such a tight knit, hardworking, dynamic group. We had multiple guys, as you see here, still up the field blocking almost keeping up with Devin. Most teams didn't have that.

@@damaxpowerway And then the offense only scored 10 lousy points. And the Colts pounded the rock for 191 rushing yards leaving Hester’s return as the only Bears real highlight.

Impossible to forget this moment. I remember watching this while living in Hillcrest dorm as a freshman at the University of Iowa. Roughly 90% Bears fans, and it was instant pandemonium, everyone running and jumping up and down in the hallways. We thought we had basically already won the SB... too bad it didn't work out. Needless to say, this moment is burned into my memory.

At least in my lifetime… this is the best single moment in Bears history. In that moment I thought we were on our way… we all know the rest of that story though.
The most exciting Chicago sports moment of my entire life. Hester already won 3 games by himself this season. Add in 2 weeks of anticipation and the first play he takes it to the house? I was on cloud 99. Too bad the rest of the game sucked…

Yep big mistake by Lovie. Also making Ron Rivera back off his defensive game plan after the first series. Manning took the defense apart because Lovie was in love with his Tampa 2 defense instead of Rivera's 46. Kyle Orton should have been in there.
