The singer “Andre van Duin” is unique, one of a kind. A multi-talented but above all a COMIC. For many many years he treated the Dutch with stomachaches from laughter. He collaborated with many people, including the woman (Corry van Gorp) who is portrayed at 1 minute 1 and 3 minutes 55, this duo was together a counterpart of Laurel and Hardy. But also GOLD is Andre van Duin and Andre Rieu together on stage. The text Andre sings is officially by Jean Ferrat with the title La Montagne. In 1965 Friso Wiegersma wrote a Dutch text to the melody “Het Dorp” which was sung by Wim Sonneveld. The text translated into English is. At home I still have a postcard on which a church has a cart with a horse, a butcher shop J. van der Ven A pub, a lady on a bike It probably doesn't mean anything to you, but it's where I was born this village I still remember how it was The farm children in the classroom A cart that rattles on the boulders The town hall with a pump in front A dirt road between wheat The cattle, the farms And along my father's garden path Did I see the tall trees I was a kid and didn't know any better Than it would never end How simple they lived then In simple houses between greenery With farm flowers and a hedge But apparently they lived wrong The village has been modernized And now they are on the right track For see how rich life is They see the television quiz And living in concrete boxes With a lot of glass, you can see how the sofa looks at Mien and her dresser with plastic roses And along my father's garden path Did I see the tall trees I was a kid and didn't know any better Than it would never end The village youth gets together a bit In mini skirt and Beatle hair and yelling along to beat music I know it's their right The new time, just what you say But it makes me a little melancholy I never knew their fathers They bought liquorice for a penny I saw their mothers skipping rope That village from then, it's over This is all that remained for me A postcard and memories When I saw the high trees along my father's garden path I was a kid, how could I know That that would be gone forever

Should note aswell that Wim Sonneveld was a great inspiration to André v. Duin. (And that Corrie v. Gorp worked with Sonneveld during his last show (1970-1973) before his death (1974))

Thuis heb ik zoveel muziek. Met een kast vol platen. En een cd rek. De platenspeler is erbij. En de klassieke muziek. Die hoort erbij. Zoals Andre Rieu ! Het geeft me zoveel plezier.

He has made a lot of humorous and comedic songs but he also has made some serious songs. This song was originally sung by Wim Sonneveld who died in 1974 and Andre van Duin made his own cover of this song which he sings here.

These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. James 4:4 New Living Translation 4 You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God." Mark 8:36 New Living Translation 36 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?

1 John 2:15-17 New Living Translation 15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. James 4:4 New Living Translation 4 You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God."
