of course he will get amnesia, take baybayin for example and Filipino language itself, most of it are loanwords from Spain, Japan and America. and dont forget that British burned Manila, that burned most of the pre-colonial documents of the Philippines.

Its not clear who burned may-nila. The spanish said it was a large group of pirates from singapore. The british claim it was on brunei's order to scourge earth the tondoh's capital. Thr baybayin was only used in the kingdom of tondoh they technically operate differently from the other 4 kingdoms. Plus their sheer size and economic power rivaled the brunei's influence resulting to brunei attacking tondoh. Tondoh hated islam and the kingdoms who bent their knees to it. And at one point they were even subjugated and was forced to worship islam during the victory of brunei during the castellan war. But because of their hatered towards islam that they fully embraced Catholicism and found an ally that would expel brunei's influence on the northern islands. Back on topic: The line nobody ever stick with me for so long fits perfectly with philippines. Brunei and the whole 5 kingdoms of tawalisi had a great relationship not til brunei became islam that it fell apart. Vietnam and china who was tondoh's economic trade partners was ousted by brunei and spain. Cuba who filipinos have a great relationship with was barred by the spanish crown in fear that they might influence the filipinos to be insubordinate against the crown. Then there's mexico basically philippines adoptive older sister who raised her and shared their precolonial cultures like the nauhtl language their superstitions and overall beliefs ended up being lost as well. Although the plan was to unify mexico and philippines together after being both liberated that didnt come to fruition cause america happened in both countries.

My head cannon for Philippines is Spain kidnap kid Philippines and brainwashed or made him forget who he really was... (Probably Spain hit Kid Philippines in the head causing memory loss) and convince the poor child that he should be someone else. And when he is with Indo and Malaysia he remembers a bit about his past but not all of it. So yeah another reason to ugly cry and dislike Spain... $Pain... TT^TT

Spain wasn't really there for philippines. Spain took philippines and they were actually pretty loyal to the crown almost to a fault. Philippines had a surprisingly good relationship with the other colonies. In fact it was so good that spain needed to ban any trade with other colonies except for mexico. Spain was afraid that philippines mught get influenced by cuba and argentina. Both were are known for being the black sheep of the family. Mexico and philippines were inseparable during their colonial days. They've cultivated a bond that even after mexico seceded they planned to reunite as one country after 1898. Too bad though that america happened. Just imagine if america didn't invade mexico and philippines along with California , utah and texas. We could've gotten the first intercontinental state stretching to the northern america across to the pacific.

literally our country doesn't have clear identity, american politics, spanish culture shaddowed filipino ones, the only one that have pure filipino not filipino, austronesian culture were the igorot, aeta, agta, negro, tboli, and other indigenous groups. Philippines name was also not autronesian, it was named in honor of the king of Spain (Philip II) not only for the Philippines, but other colonized countries, but our country got its negative effect much worse, some countries like Mexico, Peru, most of latin america did revive their culture... but Philippines, literally altered.

Philippines pre colonial history is really wide. Austronesians were not even part of the 5 major kingdoms. And their culture differs from each other. Tondoh , cebu , butuan , sulu and maguindanao. Tondoh was fairly the largest 1100-1600. And inside tondoh there's another kingdom that existed. What today is the greater metro manila was just tondoh back then. Laguna , quezon province and the whole NCR was part of the tondoh kingdom their capital was Maynila (May Nila/where indigo is found) most cities and areas of the kingdom were named after what type of flower there locally. Like bulacan came from the word bulaklakan. (Where cotton blooms) I love the history of tondoh , their culture is so different. From their dresses to how they are already diversed in terms of culture and people.
