A sci-fi version would be awesome. The closest thing in sci-fi might be something like Space Aces: Voyages in Infinite Space. Although that's more like Undying Sands/Bottled Sea.

JP Coovert did a “How to Make Customized Hex Tiles” video, and the wooden hex dimensions he links to are the same size as the ones in this toolkit last I checked, meaning you can add your own hexes to these!

That's an awesome observation! Thank you for the idea!

I like playing boardgames with one single board for the whole game. Like Monopoly and Ticket To Ride. Then every once in a while, it's fun to come across a game like the one in this video or the cooperative boardgame Forbidden Island where the gameboard is made of multiple parts that are constantly switching about. By the way I never played the game in this video or Forbidden Island so far, but I have read the rules and instructions to the later. I like reading tabletop game rules and instructions as a pastime.

I ordered three of the hexcrawl toolboxes and one of the bottled sea sets. Really enjoy building worlds out of them, although I found some of the optional rules on how to play a bit lacking. I liked the wizard tower rules the best, but I ended up going outside of the system for rules to use with the tiles.
@snarfdk Жыл бұрын
What rules did you use then? I got the set without rules so any tips would be appreciated :)
@DynoDunes Жыл бұрын
@@snarfdk I used Simulacrum Wilderness Exploration pasted ontop of 5e. You can easily adapt it to any system and it's really simple. Alternatively, you can use Wolves Upon The Coast, which is a complete system hexcrawl.

Only thing I would want is some kind of boardto hold these in. I would hate for someone to accidentally jostle the table or smack the tiles and they get rearranged. Maybe plastic pucks with small magnets in them? That way it's customizable and sturdy. I'll definitely be putting this on my wishlist!

If you have a neoprene playmat, or a large mouse pad, you could flip to the rubber side and it should stop the tiles from moving around too much. Otherwise, you could get a piece of plexiglass to put over the tiles.

There is a €40 version on their website of just the 150 tiles with nothing else for those of you that are like me and can't do the €80 pounds. Just a PSA to your wallets

Wow I just spent the better part of the last three weeks making this exact product myself after thinking of no product like Catan for hex crawls….haha scrape it all and buy this I guess! Haha I do have a large stack of custom hexes though…but no jungle tiles! Was trying to mix hex crawl playing with the old game outdoor survival and 5e with Catan hexes just like this haha

Hmmm this is so cool and the tiles are really pretty but... it just seems like way too much hastle to keep a map organised over a long campaign :( especially since I often run games at other people's houses. Id need a way to build a map at home and save the layout for easy reconstruction when its time to game... which just seems way too fiddly compared to using a paper map. Also id want some blank or dryerase tiles so I can pepper my own designs into the map. Very cool but unless I start running hexcrawl oneshots at my house, this is gonna be a pass 💀
