So Im playing this right now....and I have to say....this 'mod' is pretty much better than any billion dollar gaming company would do...its the remake people want...and it isnt even a remake...well done to the creator...well done indeed.

@@Mazut0 there is an option that says "precache textures" you should use that, the readme also states that. Gzdoom was nevet meant for high end graphics and even what I did there is something it's not easily capable of, so precaching stuff is important.

Damn man, I remember almost every sound effect in this game. One that I really loved was the Serpent Staff when you're absorbing your enemies health at close combat.

The problem with these "remaster" versions is that they are not uniformly beautiful. The backgrounds, the weapons are beautiful, and the pick-up objects are also very good. But. Monsters really don't fit into the picture. And so little light shines on them that they do not prevail at all.

reminds me of when i first saw quake darkplaces with all the ultra textures rygels pks nd stuff.....BEAUTIFUL I JUST PLAYED THRU THIS AND DUKE NUKEM 3d and trying to beat BLOOD but jesus its hard one.I had to read a walkthru to get thru some of hexen

This is how it's done. Looks and feels just like the old game but with modern graphics. Finish this and then do the same with the original Doom and Heretic and I'd pay for all 3 of them.

@@jackoneill45 it's true, I just installed the mod and the lightning doesn't seems the same as this video. I noticed the fire pedestals in the very beginning is also not present for me. In this video, there's more details on the trees and leafs flying around, but nothing of this is present in my game.

@@Zafarion I just did some testing myself and it looks like hes using a modified version of the Hexen 2020 HD wad file. When you stack rebirth with that you get a very similar effect.

Graphically it looks stunning, but I don't like wand hit texture, it looks childish and cartoonish a bit. Overall brilliant medievall settings, parallax, lighting and so on. Hexen is definately worth checking out !

It's not parallax but normal mapping, it works well with light effect beside. Parallax is not good for the sides of the textures.

Dev here, to explain it a bit better, Parallax is a Texture Depth technique which also shifts the textures around with the view, on edge's it'll look like textures are moving over the edges, which doesn't look good, and that's why I decided to go with normal maps only

Very nice although, it does seem to have all the same problems that modern 3D engine like this always seem to have. The main one being that the dark bits are WAY too dark.

Now that's a game :-) Uninterrupted by constant cutscenes (or interactive cutscenes where they play a scene but throw button presses here and there pretending to be a game). Here you play 100%, for exampe GOW or GOW ragnarok how many times I watch cutscene and yawn and think ok ok cut this let me play ok? And even then when they let me play it is just a pre-set path I have to walk, pretending to be a game not a movie.

I like everything but the monsters. Don't get me wrong, they're very faithfull and well done, but Doom engine monsters just don't translate well to 3D. Their proportions look off, and the game's code doesn't work well with smooth animations. I'd rather have voxel monsters like what was done for Doom. Still, I'm very glad someone made this mod, it's an obvious work of passion and love towards the game.

Hi. I'm trying to remake levels with full dynamic lighting and lots of models. But there is one problem. Brightness in the original game is not enough. Need to gain brightness and contrast, or use a shader.

The mod RoC is not so god . In this video the lights are better ; i think here is aswell your mod hexen-hd-2020 . Please ¿ how do you charge hexen-hd-2020 with Rebirth of Cronos ? I have tryed it making a new launcher.bat with the two mods, but the models 3D of the enemis go to sprites 2D ( object decoratives go well in 3D , and arms aswell ) . I have proved to put the files in the bat in all combinations , but the enemies go to 2D ; i can´t solve de bat-puzzle . I would like play "hexen-hd-2020" like in the video , with the models RoC ; but making a bat with the two mods, the models3D of enemis don´t go . ¿ the solution is only in the .bat , or you have change any more in the pk3 ?
