Similarly to how you’d forgotten about writing this song, I’d forgotten that you posted it. I remember listening to it shortly after it was on Patreon, and I thought it was absolutely amazing. I hit the ‘replay’ button a lot over the next few months. Just now, after a couple years, the chorus’ melody came to me, and here I am, finding myself instantly singing along even though I couldn’t have told you what the lyrics were prior. Music seems to work in mysterious ways... I love this track to death, and I can understand why it struck you deeply once you remembered it too. I doubt I’ll forget about it again. Great work Voltaire. :)

This song feels natural and organic. It's catchy without being gimmicky. It may not be what you consider your usual fare, but I find myself replaying this song over and over again. Please don't be so quick to dismiss it. I see potential with the acoustic guitar sound and the lyrics. Thank you for sharing this, Voltaire.

I agree. This would be a worthy addition to any discography, and would fit alongside Almost Human, Innocent, and your other sincere songs.

I doubt you'll see this comment, but I just want to say it. I come back to this video and this song semi-regularly. Its just very comforting. I struggled for years with losing my faith and my religion and that kind of emotional turmoil is not discussed or expressed nearly enough. This song doesn't shame religion, it doesn't say that faith is bad or harmful, it doesn't go edgy. It just expresses feeling it slip away, and still secretly hoping it will come back for just a moment as you die. I really appreciate this song. A version that doesn't cut out on the last word would be incredible, but even so I will probably keep coming back to this song. It does mean a lot to me.

Thank you sir can we have more like this one? I'm not sure what it is but there's something about the styling of this song that reminds me of the first three albums, (I get it as an artist that feels like backstepping) but I personally prefer it. Honestly within the first three cords my brain went "This is a Voltaire song."

Voltaire you are one of my favorite artists. As much as I love your comedic songs, its your deep melancholy songs that enjoy a deep reflection of how sadness and love are intertwined. Feathery wings is my favorite songs. Your music is actually very similar to my style of poetry. What most people forget is how Gothic is at its heart romantic. Granted its a very dark reflective romantic, but romantic none the less. Its at its core about the desperation of love, inevitability of death, and love that keeps it all bearable and how that love can easily be a double edged sword that forces us to ponder was it worth it with the answer being a resounding yes. I have multiple mental illnesses and my wife does as well, but she also has had one of the hardest lives I have ever heard and is now battling a disease that we are fighting to get cured. Sorry that was a bit of a tangent, my point is that your music has truly encapsulated all these these things for me in a fashion that is true to the heart of Gothic. I cannot count the number of times I have simply broke down in tears to one of your songs (again especially to Feathery Wings due to how much relevance there is to me). How much your music has inspired me as an artist. I sing Goodnight Demon slayer to my daughter every night because the message is something I longingly want her to keep. So thank you. I want to keep writing and give a deeper analysis (I am an Anthropology major minoring in folklore who enjoys deep literary analysis). I hope to one day be able to see you live with my wife and for us to stare longingly into each others eyes to anniversary. I know this has been all over the place but I cannot contain my appreciation for and live be of your art. This song was incredible, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I'm so glad you're still making music!!!!! I only just started listening to your music and I'm glad I did! You were exactly what I was looking for! You're the perfect music for my repertoire! Yeah I have black metal, hard rock some goth like type O negative and stuff but I needed something dark bleak and upbeat! Like me🖤. Any way, hearing your story and how you went about creating your life was something I wish I could've done but never had the courage to do!! Well I'm just fangirl now, sorry. But to get down to the nitty gritty thanks, for being you, and helping me find myself just a bit more🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

Beautiful. Sensing more of that theme goin on here lately, maybe that's why you dug this one up. Not a bad direction to go. Despise not your beginnings and such (or where you are heading I suppose; it's all part of the journey). Everyone gets a little lost at times. Being stuck is a form of being lost. Sometimes we lose faith in someone or something; sometimes even ourselves. We find our way eventually.
