One of my favorite scenes from the late, great Chris Farley.We were all gifted something very special by having Chris on this earth for 33 years. His aggressive, yet almost child like humor was unmeasurable. Rest easy Chris.

I love this scene because Chris Farley really gets choked up while talking about his dad. I never noticed watching this when I was younger that he actually teared up when speaking about his father in this scene. Chris was a very talented dramatic actor. I read in a bio of a program for Second City that he acted in a Sam Shephard play when he was at Marquette. He really had a lot of depth. I wish we would've been able to see more of that.

He could absolutely do dramatic acting. If he didn't get even fatter than he was in this film and on all the drugs, he could do it. Like if he kept this 1994 level of health he could certainly do it. (This level certainly wasn't good, but it was somewhat manageable, unlike 97.)

The bloopers for this movie are so funny. He ruined a few scenes because he couldn't hold his laughter back. One of my favorite bloopers is when Spade says "He seems like a pretty nice guy" Farley just burst out laughing. He had such a natural gift. His humor was like something we see in a lot of people, his innocence, gentle demeanor but could change to funny anger on the flip of a dime.
@frankkinsleyii26003 жыл бұрын
Farley was the GOAT of physical comedy. What a loss.
@KidFresh716 ай бұрын
"Jeepers creepers, those guys keep interrupting us. I'm sorry about that." It's the calm nervous moments that make Farley's EXPLOSIVE YELLS so comedically effective. Also, Farley references the wind no less than 8 times in a 2 minute conversation; his character is an open book. You can see where his mind is at. Not really thinking too far into the future- just the matter at hand.

I absolutely love how this scene does a complete loop around with my emotions in the span of seconds. It almost gives me whiplash. It starts right after the funeral, so we're already primed for some cry time, and then Chris ACTUALLY starts crying in the scene so immediately I'm a mess. Then the kids come in, then you're in this mid range of "I'm still sad...but happy now?" when they start going at it. Then the Gilligan/Skipper line hits, which NO 90s kid would realistically use as a reference, so that's already funny. And then by the time Chris stands up and starts bellowing "YOU BETTER PRAY TO THE GOD OF SKINNY PUNKS-", I've done a complete 180 from the tears and I'm laughing myself sick. Sometimes life really does move that fast. 🤣🤣👍

Fun fact, Chris Farley was going to be the voice of Shrek, but passed away before production took place. Shrek was inspired by Farley’s physique. When Mike Myers was hired, the directors told him they had a different variation of Shrek that looked like him. Myers said no, and kept the original design in honor of his friend Chris Farley.
