Edit: Just wanted to add that the B7 on the first fret sounds so good and matches the original in ways I never even thought of myself.

Love this--I learned it sans capo and it never sounded quite right, so I'm gonna try it your way. Such an eccentric strumming pattern by Lennon. He was a total savant. Did a lot of stuff that makes no logical sense but works incredibly well.

Yes he did use the J160 without capo for the broadcast. The official recording was two days later at a totally different studio and he played very differently

Hi Sam! I've got a question, I noticed this cover uses flatwound strings on the acoustic guitar and it got me thinking about what guitars the Beatles would have used flatwounds on. This song was released in the white album sessions, so I wonder if other songs with acoustic guitar from that era like Blackbird have flatwounds too.

Hi Sam, you still Score ! For your future string test on the j-160e (well you likely already know it ) keep in mind that nikel plated string dint exist before august 1970 before it was pure nickel or monel (mona steel) they also say that hex core dint exist before that time but i found an add for ex core Mapes acoustig strings in the gretsch catalog of 1958. Also if your tempted to try monels the Martin retro monel are quite similar to my old gibson mona steel.

i believe THE BEATS were the first "rock band" to use jazz and even sometimes flamenco chords on their songs. that's why i've heard people who are real limited in their playing refer to them as "beatles chords" because they're tough fer beginners and unusual fer rock n' roll. since yer using the capo what key would you say the song is in? how do you think JOHN L. knew to use the capo?

The song is in the key of F. The Beatles learned to use capos from many folk, rock, blues artists they loved like Everly brothers, Pete Seeger, muddy waters
