John must have been listening to a lot of Smokey in 1963. “All I’ve Got to Do” and “Not a Second Time” both take inspiration from his style. We’re also so lucky that the man is still around and making music. I just got one request and then I’ll lay off because I do feel a bit like I’m saying “dance, monkey” when I ask so bluntly (it makes me feel like I’m giving the impression that I’m not interested in the video despite that being far from the truth). It’s “You Can’t Do That”. I love John’s hybrid rhythm/lead playing and George’s sexy guitar riff.

John at this point was playing pre-Nile Rodgers great rhythm guitar and the tone he got on the rickenbacker is incomparable. thank you guys for replicating and preserving this greatness for all to see.

great job. one of George's best performances. incidentally, I have an original copy of yesterday and today in mono on capitol records, with an old 1966 capitol label and inner sleeve. it doesn't look like it's a butcher cover underneath unfortunately. but the title of the song is incorrectly spelled on the front and back cover and the label of the record as Dr. Robert. I think you've got the correct spelling - "Doctor", but the record company couldn't manage it!

Is this not now called the 330/12V64… My 360/12 has the next, newer body model George used in’65.🤷🏼♂️🤔. Andy Babiuk’s famous book, Beatles Gear, rightly calls the ’64 a 360/12 and the name does not change with the body’s change in ’65. The 1965 body shape and build feel and sound more substantial to my ears; how about yours? Cheers/ Slainte and Godspeed. 🎸👨🏼⚕️🫶✌️♾️. I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving day. Well done on the demo of the pick ups. Also - sorry I forgot to mention that. 😊

it's great thanks. but I think John played some or all of the parts on the les paul that you've attributed to george (eg the solo from 3:08 on out), and george played some pf the casino parts you've attributed to john (eg the arpeggios)

@j-snell-callanen262 күн бұрын
very well done! interesting miking technique on the acoustics- quite far away! Can I ask how you decided to mic that way?
@sampopkin2 күн бұрын
It looks further away than it is, because it’s so close to the camera. Ideally I’d mic the acoustics about 6-8 inches away, pointing at the 12th fret But for these videos that positioning would block the camera too much. So I put it further away
