My wife and I are 66 and we love good pop and rock whoever is doing it. I discovered the Hey Monday CD a few years back and loved every song. Two days after getting it, I looked out my window at the El Rey theater accros the street. What did I see? Hey Monday playing that night. We walked over, bought two tickets from someone and saw the show. We were definitely the oldest ones there. Great show. Played every song from the album.

People who know I have a daughter but don't really know me always assume that my love of bands like MCR, Jimmy Eat World, Yellowcard, Paramore, Halestorm, Pretty Reckless etc. must be because I have been exposed to them by my daughter. Ha. She either doesn't know them or doesnt like them. She has posters on her walls of Cream, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Doors, Jefferson Airplane etc.(well, had anyway as a teen. She's now 32). I discovered those bands myself. The decade of 2000 through 2010 had some of the greatest pop/rock music ever.

I was born in 1954 and grew up, of course, with the Beatles, Rolling Stones, CCR etc. Great music. But the golden age for pop rock was, in my opinion, the period from the mid-90s to the late '00's. Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World, Yellowcard, Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, Good Chatlotte, the Yeah, Yeah Yeahs, Kelly Clarkson. On and on. And, of course, the band with the greatest rock album of all time. That would be My Chemical Ronance. The Black Parade!
