Defining “human flourishing” in a “Jewish manner” while divorcing this definition from “loving God” (as opposed to loving generally) is a secular appropriation of the Imago Dei. If the primary purpose of humankind is to love and honor God (from which all other secular approximations of human love are unwittingly derived), then any definition of humanity or human flourishing absent of God is ultimately futile-this being the critical sin/error/incompleteness of secular humanism.
