Over the past years there have been a vast amount of things for me to think about, to wonder. From the Russian invasion to 7th of October, to the death of Iranian president etc. I've seen a lot of really heartwarming reactions from all around the world. From Muslims condemning the tragedy of 7th October to American students protesting in solidarity with Palestinians/Gazans. However, one thing that just continues to bother me is the seeming repetition of history and the weak memory of the US public. What do I mean by that? After 9/11 there was a huge support for the US government for their so called "war on terror". A huge number of Americans cheered when people in Iraq, in Afghanistan, were being butchered. They cheered when an entire country(Iraq) was burning into flames and they ignored all the revelations about the non-existent WMDs, about what was happening to prisoners in the CIA black sites etc. I still remember Michael Moore getting booed at the Oscars because he had the audacity to say that he he was against the Iraq War. I still remember SNL supporting mass murders. However little by little, as the years passed by the voices of dissent got louder and stronger. There was a sort of reckoning in the US, about the fact that maybe it was wrong to cheer for mass murder, for genocide, for strong men shouting nonsense. And yet, here we are. US public cheering for war. Cheering for a wretched corrupted man like Netanyahu. Showing once again to the world that no, all lives are in fact not the same. Showing that they are ok with Muslims, with middle easterns getting massacred. I really, genuinely thought the US public learned something from their actions after 9/11. It has become quite apparent that I was wrong.

Ben-Gurion, the George Washington of Israel. He said in the book “The Jewish Paradox” by Nahum Goldmann he said, “If I was an Arab leader, I would not sign an agreement with Israel. It’s natural we took their land. I mean yes, god promised it to us, but our god is not their god. Why would they accept? Why would that mean anything? Yes, there was antisemitism, Nazis, the Jews, Auschwitz, but why would they pay for it? We are coming here to take their land and they should not accept it. This is another quote from him. “Let us be truth among ourselves politically, we are the oppressors and they defend themselves. We come here to inhabit, and they are already here.”

Whatever your intentions are, do not start a war. Without ensuring that, you can protect your people. This goes for everyone. Some people love to make fun of the Israelis Iron Dome system. But without the iron dome system, most of Israel will look just like Gaza looking right now. My heart breaks for the people of Gaza and Lebanon. They have organizations that claim that they are fighting on behalf of them but also unable to protect them.
