Thanks for this video - although I did not opt for a roof mounted antenna, I do have both an IC-7100 and IC-7300 that I use in my travel trailer with the icom AH-4 and I chose a bumper-mounted 33' plastic vertical (eagle one) antenna. I used the spare tire holder to mount the AH-4 and I also created a counterpoise to the trailer frame and added additional wires to spread out when in use.

Thanks for watching Paul. That sounds pretty good. I wanted the extra height but then I have to worry about wind.

Thanks for sharing your setup David. It’s very timely for me as I am just getting back into radio and have the same Icom 7300 and AH-4 tuner that are still unpacked in their boxes. I will be creating a mobile rig for our Casita trailer. My antenna will be similar to yours but without the lifter. I will be using a Harbor Freight 20’ collapsible flagpole with some extension aluminum tubing to get up to 33 ft (quarter wave on 40m). I was very impressed to see in your video how much reception improved as soon as the tuner kicked in. I’ve been almost exclusively CW but hope to branch out into SSB, particularly if I get into POTA. Our travels begin in earnest in April when my wife retires so I have some time to get my rig and antenna working smoothly. 73 from Tim (KE6PMA)

Nice antenna project. Great job. I recently got the Icom AH-4 from a SK estate sale, now I need to get the Icom 7300. De N5USS.

I love the ah-4. It is nice that it tunes right at the antenna and that it is integrated into the 7300. Thanks for watching. Good luck. W0DRT

Thanks for watching Dan. Interesting. I never thought about that but will check it out with an antenna friend I have and my Son-in-Law who is an Electrical Engineer. I'll let you know. But I have been having an issue when transmitting that I am very weak signal. People come in loud and clear. I haven't had time to check it out and it just started.

@@TignerAdventures wik signal coax problem grounding antenna mast conections betwen antenna mas parts usualy that model of tuner needs a good solid gronding point and vorks best with horizontal polarization 50 to 200feet wier dont know exactly what the icom models ofers but is similar to the yaesu ft40 i think you need to pay atention to gronding the tuner wier lenght of antenna wier hight insolation and radio to tuner comunication

Solar panels especially the controller can cause noise.

Thanks for the feedback. Are we talking liquid nitrogen? I'm not sure what you are suggesting, sorry.
