My swr on 80 meters with this antenna is 23. LOL 23!! All other bands work pretty good.

Wow, yeah, mine isn’t great either-not sure if it’s actually a 23! The good thing is I can use my external tuner to get the SWR down to 1.7 on 80 meters. To me, though, it’s really a 40-10 meter antenna that can be tuned for 80. That said, it’s amazing on 20 meters!

That's weird. Mine is resonant at 20m. Middle of the band is 1.1:1. 10m is at 2.9:1. It performed best with about 50' of coax, which makes sense since it didn't have radiators. This antenna is great for beginners.

I read another review that said ground mount works as advertised but elevated mount messed up SWR. They also said with 25feet of cox no counterpoise was needed.

Thank you for sharing and taking the time. Questions: Any testing on what distance from ground should perform better on 20 Mts? Do you recommend to use radials for a better performance or no significant gain in your testing? Thanks for answering.

I think you can't go wrong with adding radials they will always help with the RX gain but mine is performing quite well without any...

I have this same antenna. I installed it on the roof of my house. I have a hard time hearing anything on 10M. I have not been able to make a single contact on it. The SWR on 10M is flat when tuned. When monitoring 80M and 40M, I can pick up TX every once in a while, but there is a lot of noise. I am a brand new HAM, so I am sure I have something set up wrong. I am beating my head against the wall.

10m is quite I doubt it's the antenna there just isn't anything going on the band, 40 meter is hopping though which to me 40 meter is this antennas sweet spot. Go to 7.268 LSB I have been hearing contacts all over the country...

Hello. I am a ham operator with 8 years experience. This antenna is more like an "end fed half wave" than the typical vertical that has radials. So...mount it near ground level with the coax going away from it along the ground. The coax will act as the counterpoise. You can try to ground the mounting brackett by connecting a copper wire to a stake in the ground. If it doesn't work for you like that, then you may need to check for a loose connection inside the unun box. Good luck and 73.

Give it a try, I am really impressed with it on 40 meters mine is basically flat SWR no tuning on 40. I have made a few contacts on 10 as well so it is pretty versatile for the most part, seems good all but 80. I can still tune it but not near as strong a performer on the bands above 40 meters.@@theramblingsoflarry9290

You need to ground these with a couple of ground spikes or use some ground radials to get the best out of them.

It was designed to be mounted on or very close to the ground. Mounting it high will probably make it perform worse especially with no radials.

When checking swr u turn ur mic gain down and run ur carrier. The only time to whistle is when your checking watts on a dosy watt meter lol. Silly cbers.

I would hope that is a given sorry if my video did not make that clear and when I am on SSB there is no carrier! But all my meters read power and SWR at the same time so when I am whistling, it's for the peak power output not SWR.

@@1OFGODSOWN Meanwhile, some of us do enjoy using digital modes. Especially those of us who like to challenge ourselves to make really far contacts with as little power as possible. And digital modes sound an awful lot like whistling. So whistling into the microphone is a very easy way to test power out in a very realistic way. Your blanket statement of "zero reasons ever", "Zero difference" and "nobody communicates by whistling" are not exactly accurate.
