This dawned on me yesterday after 260 hours in the game. Blue is water, Purple is metal, Gold is earth, Red is fire, and Green is tree, and the buildings interact with each other loosely based on the five element theory. So in short, if you have a Green resource, build Green and Blue; Purple resources, get Purple, Red, and Blue (if you have space); Blue resource (for trading ports, make sure you go for the spice route), get Blue and Purple. Must have in all settlements for me are 1. administrative (Gold) building with 20% corruption reduction, and 2 . Taoist temple with 2-18 public order. On top you should put Purple administrators for silk and spice regions, and anti-corruption missions for economic missions. With this, I had at least 5 regions with 4-5k income per turn.

The lyrics of the title song: “十五从军征,八十始得归。” “Join the army at fifteen, only to return home until eighty.” This is from a song at the period of Han Dynasty. The full version: Chinese: 十五从军征,八十始得归。 道逢乡里人:家中有阿谁? 遥看是君家,松柏冢累累。 兔从狗窦入,雉从梁上飞。 中庭生旅谷,井上生旅葵。 舂谷持作饭,采葵持作羹。 羹饭一时熟,不知贻阿谁! 出门东向看,泪落沾我衣。 English: *At Fifteen I Joined the Army on Expedition* At fifteen I joined the army on expedition, Only at eighty did I finally return. On the way I met a villager: "Who is left in my home?" "See there in the distance is your home, Among the pine, cypress, and graves piled high." Rabbits enter through the dog hole, Pheasants fly from the rafters. In the parlour grows wild grain, Upon the well grows wild vegetables. I grind the grain for a meal, I pick the vegetables for the broth. Meal and broth are ready in an instant, But I know not whom to serve. As I step out and look east, Falling tears soak my clothes.

My first campaign I had to abandon with Cao Cao despite being on easy because of negative public growth at around the 4-5 hour mark. I owned 7 provinces, I had a military building in all of them with public order gain, cities large enough so that the population did not reach the cap, excess food production and room for growth but I was being bombarded with like -14 public order from 'population' and a further -4 from something like 'dislike person in power', and at this point in the game I didn't know how to fix it. I spent like 25 turns running around my own cities battling the army that spawns once you reach -100 trying to build things to fix the issue and nothing I did worked. I'm trying again today, but the thing that worries me is I don't even know what I did wrong, so I will probably do it again... There wasn't something obvious to learn from.

Could you do a guide for corruption please? Best ways to combat it, how to set up buildings etc.? My theories are to make capitals that have multiple adjacent commandaries surrounding it to be fully economy generating. And then use the surrounding commandaries as adjacent corruption decreasing buildings. I mean, I'm thinking corruption doesn't matter all that much to capitals that are earning less than 1k gross, as it will be minimal impact compared to a capital that is earning 1.5k+ in gross. Corruption is nasty. Should you trade territories to lessen the corruption? Trade food for income with other factions equal to the amount lost through corruption? It's interesting how vassals and alliances are more important than actually controlling all the counties yourself under one faction - else the corruption becomes too much. If anyone is wondering why you might have confederated with a faction that has a lot of counties (looking at you Lui Bei) and your treasury is -4000, then it'll be to do with corruption I think. Just spit balling. Wondering if it's all fair theories/methods to deal with it?

And also there is the "swapping" mechanic in the game for your regiments and i am not sure how it works. Is the swapped regiment saved somewhere, or they will dispband and dissapear? Thanks

He just goes back to your court waiting for you to raise his army again, but when you raise it you will have to pay the cost for all his retinue
@HForHavoc5 жыл бұрын
What this guy says. And swapping literally just switches the entire unit out. The previous unit will transfer a large portion of their men to the new one so you don't have to muster nearly as long. But then the previous unit disappears forever haha
@Molda225 жыл бұрын
thanks guys for answers. So when you recall the general and he goes back to the court, when you recall him back, you recall only the general alone right? Or his whole retinue or perhaps whole army he had? And about swapping follow up question - you dont have to always use swapping if you want to make room for new unit right? You can still just simply transfer some units to some other army and split the armies as always was the case. Or are they now somehow "stuck" with the general and you either have to use swapping or disbanding the unit? thanks
@HForHavoc5 жыл бұрын
So retinues are stuck with what troops are in there. There is no unit swapping between them. So yes, you'd either have to disband a unit or swap him with a newly recruited unit. If that makes sense lol. As for recalling generals, I believe they only keep what retinue units they had when you first employed them.

What's got you confused. I'm going to regularly focus on specific parts of this game, I've got a list going. So let me know what you need to know and I'll add it to the list :)

This game confuses the shit out of me. I feel like I should take online courses and actually improve my life over trying to get good at a video game.

After playing paradox games this just seems like a joke, but hey I wanna play battles so
@thinkwithportals50185 жыл бұрын
Right, because spamming Civi Factories and reducing consumer goods is such an in-depth economy mechanic.... I assume you are not talking about HoI4, but not all Paradox games have super complicated economies... ;)
@ebowden11685 жыл бұрын
Was more talking about Vicky 2 and crusader kings in my opinion. Hoi4 is fun but it takes too long and is easy

It's quite easy to manage the economy, don't buy the game = save money.
