This tutorial discusses the crosstalk in coupled transmission line, how we can model and simulate it in HFSS. After brief theoretical discussion, two microstrip lines were designed and simulated in HFSS to investigate the near-end and far-end mutual coupling. At the end of the video, a classic paper was also discussed for better insight: David Hill et. al., "Crosstalk between microstrip transmission lines", IEEE Transaction on Electromagnetic Compatibility, vol. 4, Nov. 1994.

One note: by default, when I add the HFSS solver, the solution type is "modal", this will cause issue when assigning excitations to the lumped port. This should be changed to "terminal". Otherwise, we can't find the same setting for the lumped port.

Coupling co-efficient will determine the distance.

Why near end coupling is fluctuated along a frequency?

why in the result it goes from -20 to -60 dB?

Thanks for the tutorial! Why did you create the radiation boundary of that exact size and position? Sorry if this is silly to ask, I'm new to HFSS

Basically it was just a random-size radiation boundary. Since these are guided-wave structures, meaning radiation is negligible, so I did not care much about the criteria of placing the boundary at least quarter-wave length from the structure. But if it were an antenna, then I should have followed the distancing criteria of quarter-wave length. You can also use FEBI that allows to place the boundaries disregarding the distance criteria. Hope this helps.

This is not a co planar waveguide line (CPW) . This is a coupled line (differential) transmission line
