Why paint the slate?? The surrounding wall could have just been painted a complementary colour, totally unnecessary!!

If they had simply picked out the tan color in the slate and used that on the fireplace wall, and then a cream or off-white on the rest of the walls, it would have worked out fine. Stone is popular in the Pacific Northwest. Also, should have removed the cabinets above the peninsula. And finally, cutting the closet in half instead of removing it completely would still open up the space a lot, but still give you a place for coats in rainy PNW.

Wait -- this is a place where people wear cold-weather clothing: coats, hats, gloves, boots, etc. Where does that stuff go, now that the closets are removed? And did they do something about the single bathroom? Wondering.

Quite. I saw another episode where the railings in a kitchen that OVERLOOKED the living room was entirely removed, notwithstanding that the intention was to market the house to a family.

If they could of added a half bath or 3/4 bath, they could of added thousands to their list price.

I saw the full episode a few yrs back. They turned that outbuilding into a functioning space with a bathroom. If I remember rightly.

Good point, I think they should have built an area to be able to sit and remove the winter layers.

So much dark paint in the house. They should have lightened up the wall, and left the slate natural. Painting the slate was atrocious.

Looks great but my only gripe would be the cabinets above the counter top where they placed the range. Which by the way… where’s the vent for the range? I would’ve removed the cabinets and and place Teo pendant light on either side of the counter.

So sad that the slate was painted. If it had been left and the rest of the room had been decorated cohesively it would’ve looked gorgeous.

The slate fire surround was ugly. The different colours and textures was discordant. Painting it over was the right thing to do.

Flat gray paint on natural slate = bad choice. They could have easily left it natural and, as you said, coordinated the rest of the decor around the focal point of the room.

@@eattherich9215 I agree. That's easy to do for starters and it screams out dated. That's just my 2 cents lol. I was in this business, plus mortgages and real estate for decades. Having less busy patterns and colors are key for all buyers. Things are easier to picture in the mind when they're mostly solid colors. I'm always open to discussing this. I'm not an up to date expert anymore but I still do consultations here and there 😊

Leslie & Lyndsey, you removed the “wall,” which provided a sorely needed closet. The uncluttered and open living room, doesn’t have a place for the owners of guests to hang their coats/jackets, store shoes/boots, etc. As beautiful as the home appears, the functional aspect was reduced greatly at the entry.

My mouth was dropping open right from the get go from the living room all the way throughout the house; Loved, LOVED the fireplace being painted and that entire color palette for that room and I was thinking it can’t get any better than this and then you opened the sliding door to the backyard and I was in heaven with the red maple tree & in contrast with the turquoise shade of blue you selected for the little extra building/yoga studio in contrast color and all of the landscaping that was stunning and then there was a fire pit and anyone getting that house was getting an excellent by and a job well done ladies😊❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️🌈♥️ I really do love how well you design and stage your homes and that you get the most for the money for your clients. Love watching your show♥️

What's with buyers? If you want a house in your style why not go build one. You are, afterall, looking at another's home, which I'm sure should be in their own style. You can always change the cosmetics when you take over. Structural issues understandable, but cosmetics...dumb to not be able to visualise your style in their place.

They shouldn’t paint the real natural stone into a cheap grey, it does depreciate the value of the fireplace by 90%🫣
